One of the nine lifts that take you up the mountain to various courses.

This year has been one of the warmest winters we've had in Japan, thus the lack of snow. But thankfully most of the courses had new snowfall a few days before we went.

Location: Gunma prefecture

Best to come by car, it's a 2-3 hr drive from Tokyo. (Parking on weekends are free if you have more than 4 people in the car!)

Or you can come by shinkansen, closest station is Numata Station on the JR Joetsu Shinkansen Line, then another 50min by bus.
Oze Iwakura is one of the largest ski resorts in the Kanto area with 16 courses, 9 lifts + 1 gondola, and 697 meters (2,286 ft) of vertical descent. It's said to be best suited for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, but there are several courses for advanced and beginners, too.

It's not as crowded as other more popular ski resorts and because there are so many advanced skiers, we had a great time snowboarding down several courses and didn't have a any trouble getting around.

The view from Oze Iwakura ski resort is pretty amazing. There are a number of famous mountains to be seen, including Mount Fuji on a clear day if you're lucky!

We weren't so lucky...but the mountains we could see were beautiful just the same :)
