A hidden treasure!

I cannot begin to put into words what a special time we had at Juniper Cottage. It is such a cozy, quaint space, with the most gracious hosts. This listing is pristine, organized, well stocked and most welcoming. We were absolutely charmed by the neighborhood beach, as well as the town of Jarvisburg. We also loved how convenient it was to local beaches, tourist attractions, and delicious restaurants. The highlight of our stay, though, was the Wii, lol! We loved it. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and it is all thanks to our EXCELLENT hosts. Honorable mentions: gated deck that our doggy could sunbathe on, good water pressure, reliable wifi, and a super comfy mattress. We loved our first OBX experience, and we will absolutely be back again!

Cute little house

Great stay. Very quaint and cosy very enjoyable stay. Beds very comfortable amenities nice. Only complaint is the ants. Obviously its nc ants are everywhere and there is nothing that can be really done about that. Maybe leaving some ant killer or something so that we could have handled the bigger most problematic hills around the house would be helpful.

Perfect getaway spot

This was the perfect little house for our visit. Extremely clean, quaint private beach 5 minute walk, lots of little extras, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Comfy bed. Friendly neighbors bot human and K9! Would highly recommend.

Great Little Place

We enjoyed our stay immensely. We used it as a little writers' retreat, and the place was perfect. The hosts were fantastic. It was clean and had everything we needed to make every meal. The check-in and check-out rules were clear and reasonable. I highly recommend the place for a getaway.

Amazing Beach Vacation

This is an excellent choice for your trip to OBX! A 20 minute drive to Kitty Hawk beaches (easy to find free parking too), a <10 min from vineyard, grocery store, farm stand, and many other local stores! John and Mercy were excellent hosts, they gave us an extensive list of activities around the area as well as restaurant recommendations. The property itself is very charming and clean and away from all the hustle and bustle. The private neighborhood beach is excellent for watching the sunset, reading a book in the morning, and/or meeting the friendly neighborhood people/dogs. We would highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to OBX!

Adorable quiet vacation spot

We had a wonderful time at this property. It was perfect for a quick get away. The short walk to the beach was wonderful. We watched the most beautiful sunset. We would love to return! The property was well stocked with everything we needed to have a wonderful vacation. The community is special too. We loved the little library down the street too!

Perfect little house

We had the best time! The house was clean and supplied with everything we needed for cooking showering washing clothes etc and even had everything for the beach also! My daughter was delighted with the children’s books and toys. Definitely will book again! Great location off from the crowds you get close to the beach

A bit farther than expected

Nice room in a quiet area, about a half hour away from beaches. Dirt roads to access and tight parking entrance. There was some pet hair on the bedsheets when we arrived but changed them out with the extra set of sheets which was fine. There were plenty of things to do inside the cabin and overall was an enjoyable experience.

Perfect and easy getaway

Pretty neat. They have a wii. Demolished my wife in wii sports. Like a lot. Embarassing really. Great lil beach like a 5 minute walk away. 20 minutes to obx beaches without the traffic. Cant wait to come back!

This property is absolutely lovely. I brought two dogs who had an awesome time along with my daughter. The beach is breath taking. The fire pit was so fun fun and so warm! Giant Jenga was a hit with my party! The home is beautiful and well kept. The hosts were amazing and very attentive. Communication was top notch. And the neighbors are friendly and helpful. I even forgot something and the host messaged me immediately and is getting it to me. This house will be great for anyone wanting to stay. I had an amazing time and can't wait to come back again!

Great Stay!!!

Wonderful private location. The small beach area was our favorite. We went to 3 public beaches, the waves were way to strong. We would always come back to "our" beach. Very dog friendly. Our dog enjoyed our beach the best!!

Cozy Tiny House

A wonderful, cozy, quiet place. The neighbors are friendly. A three minute walk led to a private beach--it was peaceful and wonderful not to fight crowds or traffic.

Quiet beach vacation without the city bustle

We loved how secluded but close to everything this place was . Upon arrival , you see it is within a small community that takes turn maintaining the area , including the private beach . We spoke with many of the neighbors because within the first 5 min of arrival, our dog ate the neighbor’s chicken . Beware of the chickens! But ironically enough , that was the first and last chicken we saw . We do feel bad for the chicken . I don’t think the dog felt much remorse . The Beach area is not huge , it’s more of a river feel with a Sandy landing . It was perfect for my family and the dog . It was very intimate and we took Somme great pics while our dog played in the water and with the local , very friendly dogs. We did spend one day at a public beach entry for kitty hawk . The host had recommended where to find the best public parking for beach access , and it was absolutely perfect . You will find a list of recommendations on the fridge , we went with several of their recommendations . The bugs are intense so bring your bug spray! The campfire is beautiful, the shed had water toys , and everything is about a 15-20 minute drive to main attractions . The private beach only 3 minutes. The home had everything you could imagine , back ups of everything ! Plenty of towels , soap , cleaning supplies . This is the perfect place if you’re looking for a quiet spot with the option of going out .

Loved the Tiny House life!

My husband and I rented John & Mercy's cottage for 3 weeks (with our dog) and it was amazing. Mercy was very communicative, and helpful when we needed anything. The house itself feels very spacious for a "tiny house." You really have everything you could need - working bathroom with a really nice stand-up shower; comfy bed; decently stocked kitchen; etc. Wireless internet worked fine and consistently (we were able to zoom for work meetings and stream video with no interuptions). There is also a nice little deck off the house where you can grill & chill. The surrounding property is also great. A very nice fire pit, as well as an excellent place to hang a hammock! In regard to the area - You have a sense of privacy and being in the woods. But you also have neighbors who gather at the little community beach to watch the sunset each night, so it feels like the best of both worlds. At the same time, it was just a 20 minute drive to the public beach (on the sea side) in Kitty Hawk, which we did a few times a week during our stay. We would stay again! It was a great place to recharge in nature!

Perfect Spot for Family

The Juniper Cottage was all that we were hoping for and more. It was super clean, stocked with everything we could have needed, and perfectly located for a quiet, relaxing visit to NC.
