The famous town of Holmfirth is just a short drive or bus ride away and other places of interest are The Yorkshire Mining Museum, Cannon Hall Farm & Country Park, Kirklees Light Railway and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Also running through Shepley is the Trans Pennine, Penistone line and the train station is just a short walk away opening the access to many Pennine villages including Honley and Penistone.
