Stayed in a private room, it was bigger than expected and much nicer than a dorm, with toiletries and a fridge/kettle included. Best nights sleep on my 2 week trip round Cambodia and vietnam. There were 2 windows high on the wall into the corridor, which seemed weird as they were open when I got into the room so I could hear everyone in the hallway, they should have blinds etc ideally to stop the light coming in overnight. We also didn't know the main entrance woukd be closed and shuttered up at a certain time, or how to get in when we came back to find this. A bit more info at check in woukd have been good.

nice, clean hostel in a good location to backpacker street without being right in the craziness ... not at all a social hostel, wouldnt recommend for solo travellers.

Have a living room which can’t sit.. Have a location near night life but close a hostel’s gate so fast.. Ring a bell to open a door, a staff was upset because he’s sleeping Female staffs are very excellent Rooms are very clean No curtain... It's handy to go everywhere in Disrict 1. The hostel is located in a narrow lane. There is a local market just outside the lane. It's very dirty. Room's size is around 70 sq. ft. only! I would not say it's comfortable. The staffs of the kitchen providing the breakfast are not friendly and their English is very limited. The portion of the breakfast is too small.

Excellent hostel for value of 3 stars hotel

Very close to night week end market, lots of reataurants, tour / excursions , bus office, long distance bus stop and local bus station very convenience to go every where also a local market in front of alley . I shopped daily here all employees are very helpful will out of their ways to help me when ask, recommend to everyone to budget & travellers who like value for their money. I will definetely come back to stay at this hotel. Simple and clean like new, new renovated in 2-3 month . Best place in the area after walked around

Lovely staff, clean comfortable room

We spent 8 nights here in February 2018. Upon arrival we were given free juice! The room as very clean and comfortably equipped with two reading chairs, two bedside tables, a mini fridge, a kettle, bathroom supplies, and a wardrobe. We found out the next night they have a happy hour where guests get a free Saigon green from 6-8pm. The included breakfast had lots of choices revolving ariund baguette, eggs, and noodles. It ran from 6:30-9:30, but they were sometimes out of noodles if we got there after 9. They helped us get info about tours and transport to our next city. We used the laundry service and were pleased. We brought it down before noon and it was ready that evening. The only downside of the whole place was that our room was right next to the stairs on the first floor and sound travelled from the lobby very easily. If you are sensitive to noise, request a room on the second floor or above (there is an elevator if that's a concern).

There was a couple people at the front desk that did everything they could to make everybody happy.Tiem and son or two of the nicest people they took care of me quite well. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Nice hotel close to the markets and done town.

My experience was great overall the staff was really friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean daily, I could get to downtown in less than 30 minutes. If I needed help getting a taxi the staff would help me.

Comfortable and Clean Basic Hostel

Everything is good. No complains. It is a simple basic hotel and value for your money, clean rooms and lobby. Staff is ever helpful, humble and friendly. We stayed in the private room with queen bed, attached toilet. The hostel is situated at the end of Pham Nga Lu road, with landmark, local market, Cho Thai Binh and a roundabout. Use this as a guide for your to search the hostel. It is at the alley of the market, after the stretch of shops along Pham Nga Lu road. Go to the market in the morning to have breakfast, a variety of local street food selection is available. Do try out the Caramel Creme Flan in the market. Refreshing. You can also buy fresh local fruits in the market. The hotel is also situated slightly further from the center point of attraction, Ben Thanh Market. This should not set you back, as you only need to walk about 15mins along the happening Pham Nga Lu road and the garden to the Ben Thanh. There is also a local supermarket chain, approx 15 mins walk to Co.opmart Chon Quynh, and option for cheaper selection and that is also where the local shop for their daily needs. Take the hostel taxt to the airport, price at USD 10. Recommended and will stay here again.

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, clean rooms.

Clean, friendly hostel in a good location. Really helpful staff who give great recommendations for the area and are available and on hand to help. Secure safe space to store valuables in lockers, and good size dorm rooms so it doesn't feel overcrowded. The 'free beer between 5-7pm' is a great time to meet other travellers and has a lovely vibe, slightly quieter than the nearby party hostels meaning you get a good nights sleep! Would recommend and would return back if ever in Ho Chi Minh again!

Great hostel for the budget conscious traveler. We were given excellent advice on where to eat and exchange money. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Highly recommended.

A great place to stay

Located down backpackers alley, Phan Anh Backpackers Hostel was great. Upon first walking into the lobby, the staff was very friendly and accommodating to the point of showing up to the room. The room as simple, yet clean. Bed was a bit hard but had no problems getting a good night sleep. Hostel is located near some great restaurants and nightlife around the corner or within walking distance. Met some great people during the daily happy hour. Would stay here again.

Unfriendly to Asians

Overall good, clean, convenient place to stay for a good price. They provide clean towels everyday and housekeeping keeps the room very clean. Our triple room had a fridge. There's an elevator and free beer in the evenings. No communal area, just a small sitting area at reception & tiny kitchen so have to take turns for breakfast, which is free. The guys who cook breakfast are unfriendly & grumpy, they always said no noodles left but we saw them cooking noodles for themselves. Anyway the baguettes were amazing so we were happy to have that for 6 days. Only 1 girl was friendly & helpful, the other 4 staff were unfriendly to us. We thought it's just the culture that people there don't smile, until we saw a white British girl checking in - they were so friendly, smiling & chatting with her, helped her with her luggage & even gave her a free welcome drink - none of which we got. So we realized then that they were only nice to white people and not Asians. Lots of hostels/guesthouses in the area at the same price including breakfast. I would stay at a different place next time with hopefully better service.
