VERY DIRTY AND SMELLY.

VERY TIRED, DIRTY and SMELLY. This hotel is without a doubt the worst place I have ever booked. do not take notice of any website pictures, they must have been taken years ago.After booking in, paying and viewing our room we immediately repacked our car and left.

Great stopover!

This is a unique looking hotel. It is spacious and clean. The room I stayed in was very large and good value for money. The full English breakfast was excellent and inexpensive. The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. I will be returning to this hotel.

Charming and comfortable hotel

It's an old hotel and full of charm. I had a delicious pub style lunch in the restaurant/pub and an amazing full English breakfast (eat as much as you like) in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I couldn't get hot water in my shower and the front desk clerk came up promptly and showed me how to use it. The room was spacious and warm (October) with lots of storage space and a modern bathroom. I was very pleased with my stay there.

Hotel rooms are tired. Cracked tiles in the bathroom, musty odor. It's always a bit of gamble when you put the key in the door and you walk into your hotel room for the first time. The musty smell was a bit overwhelming, had to open the windows (during a driving rain and cold) to get some fresh air. By the 3rd night we were just used to the place. It didn't add to our trip, just made us happy we were going home. Probably would not stay here again.

Hotel smelled like mildew. Tables in breakfast room were sticky. No one offered to help us with heavy bags up the stairs, there is no elevator. Would only recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget or need to be within walking distance of grayshott village.....

My English base place.

I stayed three separate nights on this trip. Two were in rooms 303 and 304, on the first floor, and quite acceptable. The third was 216, also on the first floor, but far too far away from the front of the hotel, was cold, and the wifi did not work most of the time. I like the old first floor rooms, and would prefer to be allotted one when I visit in future. The food is good, if a bit limited. Try to make it a bit less pub-food oriented.

Unfortunately first impressions of this hotel were of a tired property in need of updating. The bar and restaurant appeared to be clean and well presented. We had a drink in the bar but did not use the restaurant. Bedrooms are a good size and the bed was comfortable. There was a kettle and tea/coffee available. We also had a small television. What really lets the room down was the dirty tired bathroom. The window blind in the bathroom was mouldy, the toilet was stained at the u bend. It didn’t look like it had ever been bleached. The shower was mouldy and needed a good deep clean. The bedroom carpet was also stained and needed a shampoo. The bedroom and bathroom windows were old metal frames which did not close properly. This made the room cold and draughty. Overall I think the accommodation needs investment to make it more attractive.

The property could definitely do with updating; a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. However, I would describe the property as quirky. Parking limited but safe. Staff go above and beyond, very friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Overall 4 stars, just needs a bit of TLC.
