Town: One of the Scottish Border towns and winner of many national floral awards, Hawick is a wonderful location for enjoying a break. Along with the rich history of the town and area which dates back to the 12th century, the town is internationally famous for its fine quality knitwear, and is home to a fantastic collection of shops selling both knitwear and cashmere. It is part of the TextileTrail thanks to the Borders Textile Townhouse where you can learn all about the industry within a restored 16th century tower house. Over in the Hawick Museum and Scott Gallery, you can wander around the exhibits detailing the town's history and marvel at the art, before taking a stroll through Wilton Lodge Park which rests on the banks of the River Teviot and providing 107-acres of grounds to roam. Within the town you can find a leisure centre, pubs, shops and a great selection of restaurants, from fine dining to cheap and cheerful. Hawick is a fantastic base from which to explore other neighbouring towns, such as Jedburgh, Selkirk, and Tweedbank.
