Remote, peaceful location
Very comfortable property in a secluded location which was central to exploring all of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which was breathtaking. It was advertised as sleeping 8 but would only be comfortable for 6 max as living space is small. Garden is not child friendly or completely enclosed for dogs although no problem for ours who are well trained. WiFi is non-existent which has its plus sides but no landline in case of emergencies.

Well equipped cottage
Two disappointing points, mobile cover is next to zero but that would be fine if the cottage had a view, there is none at all. Quality of the cottage very good and very close to beaches etc.
Also the garden is basically a steep bank with a wall that drops a few feet that could be dangerous to small children (or dogs)

Lovely cottage - but contrary to description there is no internet
This is a really lovely cottage in a beautiful area - but is described as having internet... it does not. Discussing the misrepresentation of that with the owner has been stressful and remains unresolved.
Syke Mill is a lovely cottage – clean, stylish, luxurious comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms (but no locks), a well-supplied kitchen that you can properly cook in, and convivial eating areas with views of the garden. Other provisions – games, tables football, washing machine, tumble dryer – make this a comfortable place to spend time.

Riding the waves in Pembrokeshire
Hafida was helpful and accommodating with booking the property. The cottage itself was everything we needed - well equipped and comfortable. There were some great additions such as a nice BBQ and outdoor seating area, and a fabulous table football. It was especially helpful to have washing and drying facilities available as we have young children who get very messy! We had very limited phone signal at the property, but knew this would be the case in advance so this was not an issue for us. We would have no hesitation in returning.

Fabulous cottage
We had a lovely stay at Walwyns castle. The setting is very quiet and picturesque. The cottage was immaculate with comfortable beds, amazing bath and shower !! The kitchen was also well equipped.
The positioning of the cottage makes it easy to travel to various places along the coast. We loved Little Haven and Broadhaven.
One of the best cottages we've stayed in for a long time.
Many thanks Hafida.

Absolutely fabulous !!
A beautiful, secluded property that will appeal to those looking for peace and tranquility during their stay. The cottage is well placed for exploring the Pembrokeshire coastline with Little Haven within walking distance. We managed to visit some amazing beaches I've never ventured to before. We particularly enjoyed marloes sands. The cottage itself is nestled in a peaceful woodland location and is spotlessly clean. It is luxuriously appointed and has loads of secure outdoor space with large decked areas and plenty of seating. Very peaceful after a long day exploring. This was just what we were looking for will definitely return. A special thank you to host Hafida who was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had during our stay. I would highly recommend this property for a very memorable experience. You won't regret it. 🙂

What a relaxing break!
We had a wonderful week unplugged from WiFi and phone signal enabling us to properly switch off. We were supposed to come to Syke Mill in October 2020 but with the lockdowns we were not able to make it til May half term. Hafida was a wonderful host with great communication so that our postponements were made possible. The cottage is spacious, well decorated and set in a beautiful area of Walwyn's Castle. We loved our stay.

Stay at Syke Mill Cottage
Lovely cottage for a small family. Location perfect for exploring Pembrokeshire and beaches. Close to Haverfordwest for supermarkets etc. We loved exploring the peaceful reservoir. The only downside was a lack of access to WiFi and hence internet access. The owner tells me that this is soon to happen and this will absolutely make it perfect for anyone staying there. Strong recommend and would be delighted to return to stay here. The owner was super helpful for our stay both with recommendations re beaches and places to go ( slightly more difficult with pandemic restrictions) and was easily accessible for some very minor troubleshooting. A fabulous holiday stay.

We loved our week in this super cottage. It is comfortable (fab bathrooms) and very peaceful, with no near neighbours. We loved the walk through the wood to the lake, and our favourite beach was the wonderful Marloe Sands. Very good, helpful owner. Thank you for a lovely week.

A delightful cozy cottage
Syke Mill is a very comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting located in a lush wooded area. It has been beautifully renovated and the three bedrooms with each their private bathroom was a plus.
We easily located the many villages along the coast and traveled as far as picturesque Tenby during our stay.
When renting the cottage, be sure to bring your toiletries as only hand soap is provided.
Travelling from Canada, we were on airplane mode so wifi did not work for us but made family interactions that much easier. There were many opportunities to tap in, in the villages.
We would definitely recommend this cottage in Walwyns Castle to anyone wanting to experience the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park area.

Modernised cottage away from it all
A very well appointed, modernised cottage in a very quiet corner of beautiful Pembrokeshire
Great communication from the owner , very helpful with questions on things to do and amenities , and was quick to resolve a small issue of too few towels on arrival
Large garden enclosed for dogs, mostly covered with wild flowers/grasses, could have been more of a path up to the decking area , could be offputting if grass was wet (although the owner did offer to get the grass cut, we declined due to children suffering from hay fever)
Well appointed interior, pictures are an accurate representation.
Small niggles of
1. poorly fitting bathroom doors with no locks
2. en-suite wetroom to twin room only had a shower curtain As a door, making the bedroom very humid , better to just use as loo, and shower instead in the large wet room downstairs
3. Parking area might have been thought through a bit better , just about got 2 hatchbacks off the road but lived with it for a week
Freesat TV and DVD player, good selection of board games and bar football for entertainment, came in handy because there is no WiFi or phone signal inside, and only weak 4G on carpark area or decking (we had Vodafone, EE, O2 and 3, made no difference )
Large tesco in Milford haven 10 mins away, as are nearest pubs in little haven
There is a nice nature reserve 25 yards down the road we found good for dog walking
Despite negative comments (intended as feedback for owners as they clearly are passionate about providing a quality accommodation and excellence of service) compared to other properties I’ve stayed in I would rate this comparatively highly

Peaceful retreat
This cottage was perfect for us. Conveniently situated for both Town and coast it's tucked away right next to woodland with the sound of a bubbling brook and birds singing to gently wake you up in the mornings.
It really is a home from home with quality beds, bedding and kitchen equipment. It was so useful to have a washer and dryer available for our use in the utility room and we were never cold as there is a very efficient central heating system and fabulous wood burning stove which makes for very cosy evenings.
I have to mention that the owner went the extra mile to accommodate our needs and was amazingly friendly in all our communications - a big thank you to her for that.

A gorgeous woodland cottage within easy reach of beautiful beaches.
We (family of four including two teenagers, plus dog) stayed here over Halloween week. Despite being tucked away down a country lane, it was easy to find thanks to good directions from the owners. We loved this cottage which has been fitted out to a very high spec. Kitchen has large modern oven, dishwasher, microwave etc, and there is an extra fridge in the utility room. Plenty of cupboard space for storing food etc - and there was milk, tea, coffee, welsh cakes etc. all waiting for us on arrival, as well as Halloween decorations! The bath tub in the master bedroom en-suite is huge, and the downstairs wet room has a powerful 'rainforest' shower. All bathroom fittings are top quality and added to the sense of luxury.
The central heating warmed the house very quickly and was easy to use (just adjust the thermostat), and there is also a wood burner in the sitting room that creates a cosy atmosphere. There is a digital tv and DVD player with a selection of family friendly films, as well as a big trunk full of family favourite games like Monopoly and Scrabble.
The location was perfect for us and dog. There is a lovely woodland walk to a reservoir that is only 10 mins from the front door, and the beaches at Little Haven and Broad Haven are only a 10/15 min drive away. Haverfordwest is a 15min drive away and there is a large Tesco there with petrol station, as well as a Morrisons and a Lidl.
There was plenty of info in the cottage on what to do and where to go in Pembrokeshire. We'd recommend St Davids, Whitesands beach, Newgale beach, Barafundle Bay, Broad Haven South, as well as the closer Little Haven and Broad Haven. All are stunning and have excellent coastal path walks.
We couldn't pick up wifi in the cottage, but this wasn't a problem as it kept kids off devices! A 20 metre walk up the lane and I could get 3g.
All communication with the owners was straightforward and clear, and we would love to return in the future!

A week in the charming, secluded Syke Mill cottage.
Theproperty was very well designed and the materials used throughout, flooring, bathrooms, staircase were of a very high standard. It was also very tastefully decorated, and the kitchen was well equipped, although a few more chopping boards would have been useful. All the electrical appliances worked well.
Fortunately, as we were preparing to leave, we were able to meet the owner, Hafida, who was interested to hear our comments - positive and otherwise!
Some of our negative comments had been noted before by previous guests, such as the fridge being far too small for six people, the lack of anywhere to hang up towels to dry, also the fact that if as we do, you like to read in bed, the lamps there are not suitable. We would also have appreciated more tea towels, toothbrush glasses and more hand towels, we only had three for five people, although there were five bath towels.
We also had to buy cleaning materials, washing powder, dishwasher tabs, a washing up brush, and bin liners, which we left there for the next guests. Apparently this is normal practice.
Hafida listened to all our suggestions, and has since informed me that many of them have already been implemented.
In the next few months, the garden should be finished, which will provide a much nicer aspect from the house.
With all the recommendations in place, this will be a beautiful, peaceful oasis to relax in and enjoy.

Wonderful escape
We had a lovely long weekend as a family of four and our dog. Easy to find and nestled by the stream. We loved the walk to the reservoir and perfect to let the dog run there first thing in the morning. She got out of the garden at the back so just worth considering for others with dogs that like to wander :-) Beds very comfortable (but sheets crumpled) and utility space great. We were out each day at the beach - Marloes - but the boys headed to the upper deck to get their 4g fix early evenings! (love the solar lights) Made a great and much needed escape. Thank you.

5 Star Luxury Hidden in the Woodland
This fantastic little property, nestled in the woods and a short drive from lovely beaches was my idea of paradise and I did not want to come home. This property is the best self catering cottage that allows dogs that I have ever stayed in. The layout and facilities were second to none. You enter through a utility room which is ideal for removing boots, wiping dirty paws and discarding muddy outer layers before entering the living area, and lets face it, it is Wales, it will rain at some point. An outside tap allows you to wash inevitable mud and sand from your boots. Inside there is everything you could want or need. A well equipped kitchen, with items that most self catering cottages forget (sieves, cooking utensils, a range of various cooking pots and oven trays). A beautiful welcoming touch is the hand made mat on which sat what became my favourite item for breakfast, Welsh Cakes. Also, for halloween, Hafida had a pumpkin waiting for my 8 year old to carve, which made his day. With plenty of seating in sofas around the fireplace or at the large kitchen table, there is plenty of room in this open plan living area. The bedrooms are an excellent size and the beds were dressed beautifully. Storage is in abundance with built in cupboards, chest of drawers, bedside tables and even dressing tables. Beautifully adorned mirrors are on all walls in the bathrooms, which is often an overlooked feature in most holiday lets. But the little items for me added the touch of quality. Hand wash in all the bathrooms, with added moisturiser in the master ensuite. Dishes of pot pourri adding a decorative touch. Bed linens and soft towels that smelt wonderful. The shower in the wet room was amazing, the huge bath in the ensuite was divine. The outside of the property was just as amazing, considering that the land is on a hillside, good use has been made to utilise the space. The decking does get slippy when it is wet, but then so does mine at home.
Across the road is the nature reserve and woodland, I found what I call my secret stream, hidden away through ferns and holly which I would stop at and just listen to the quiet sounds of nature. At night, when it’s clear, the stars can be seen so brightly and you can hear the nocturnal animals.
There is limited phone signals, but i found this refreshing, not to be contacted by cold callers for a whole week, I felt it did my 8 year old good to be away from the internet too. I would happily live here.

Highly recommended - we had a great time staying here
Thank you! We Nelsons (family of 4 plus Labrador) all had a brilliant holiday. Hafida has created a really beautiful holiday retreat - we were very excited when we arrived and explored inside. So many luxuries and our young people (12 and 14 years) thoroughly enjoyed having a bathroom each! We loved the nearby nature reserve and walked there every day spotting kingfishers and jumping fish - so peaceful and tranquil. When we were 'home' we did need to train our dog not to wander off behind the raised decking area - dogs do love to explore (!) and the garden is not enclosed by a fence all the way round. One of our family highlights was a mini adventure walking to the pub at Little Haven one evening - quite a challenge but well worth it and definitely memorable... many of the local footpaths are overgrown and quite challenging so sticking to the mainly single track road route recommended by Hafida would be wise! So many incredible places to explore... Stackpole (walking and Paddle Boarding), Dale (crabbing and driftwood sculptures), Marloes, Broadhaven (amazing Cafe 'The Bay'), Newgale (our dog's favourite) ... so much to do in this lovely area! Syke Mill is a beautiful secluded cottage in a truly outstanding area of Pembrokeshire. We loved it!

Well presented, comfortable cottage in beautiful Pembrokeshire
We had a great time staying at Syke Mill and exploring beautiful Pembrokeshire. The weather during our stay was a bit mixed, but we managed 4 fantastic sunny beach days and would highly recommend beaches at: Marloes, Broad Haven, Tenby and Stackpoles. We also visited Solva, St Davids, Pembroke and the Lily Ponds at Bosherston and the kids loved their visit to Blue Lagoon, which was a great way of entertaining them on a wet afternoon. We would highly recommend The Griffin at Dale and St Brides Inn at Little Haven for eating out. Booking is advisable.
The joining instructions and direction of how to get to Syke Mill were great and straight forward to follow. We didn't get lost! The cottage itself has been finished to a high standard, is well presented and very comfortable. The beds were v comfortable indeed. Great nights sleep had by all. Great utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer which we made use of. Slightly disappointed that the 'freezer' listed in the kitchen details, is no more than an ice box in an under counter fridge! Sadly we arrived with too much food, thinking some could go straight into the freezer. There would be room for an upright fridge / freezer in the utility room, which would be great considering the cottage accommodates 6. An under counter fridge is too small for a cottage catering for 6 in our opinion. There is a need for hooks in all bathrooms to hang towels, robes, wash bags etc... Unfortunately the can opener in the kitchen didn't work and was rusty, so we had to resort to other means to open up a can of custard! There was also only one wooden bread board / chopping board in the kitchen. An additional chopping board for raw meat would be highly advisable. All small things, but make a difference to your holiday. We left a note in the visitors book about these things and by the time we got home Hafida had emailed us addressing all the points we had made. We were really impressed as we never thought any one would come back to us about the comments we had left. Hafida obviously cares a lot about the home she hires out and wants to make sure things are right for her guests. Our kids loved the property so much, they wanted to bring it back to Suffolk with us! We had a great stay and would highly recommend this cottage.

Peaceful Retreat
Instructions on how to get to the property were good and we had no difficulty finding it. It is situated in a very small peaceful village entered by single track roads with passing places. The local people we met were friendly and helpful. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard, has a well equipped kitchen, fridge on the small side for 4/6 people and modern touch button hob/microwave/oven which we soon managed to use with ease.
We had mixed weather and when the sun shone the garden decking was ideal to sit out on and there are plenty of chairs/tables/parasol available. When it rained the decking was slightly slippery, so take care. The log fire and the heating both work well and were easy to use.
The beds were lovely, clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and conducive to a good night's sleep. We did hear an owl one night!
The bathrooms have high end fittings and the showers work well, with plenty of hot water at all times. The utility room was very useful and ensured that we did not have to take wet boots/clothes/dog straight into the lounge.
TV works well but be aware that there is no internet and phone connections are patchy even in the garden.
All in all a lovely cottage and with access to the a few local walks. Just over the road is a walk to the nature reserve with a small lake which was home to a pair of swans and 3 cygnets. Unfortunately the walk to the beach, which a local directed us to, is overgrown and the farmer has sown to the edge of the field so we couldn't use this way of visiting the beach. The short drive to Little Haven and Broad Haven is worth it and the other beaches along the coast to St David's are all worth a visit, all lovely sandy coves.
A beautiful place to stay to explore the Pembrokeshire coast.

A lovely well presented cottage in a beautiful location.
Very comfortable cottage with all amenities. Well most, be warned there is no wifi and phone signal is weak but available outside, but that suited us fine to get away from it all and relax in this remote location in a beautiful wooded valley with no interruptions from the outside world. The kitchen was well equipped, we had everything we needed to prepare meals and eat in, although there are many recommended eateries within a short driving distance. The owners had left lots of information on local walks, and the local amenities, there was no shortage of things to do.
The garden area was lovely just to sit in and enjoy the birdsong - very little else to hear. And right opposite the cottage there is a lovely walk through a nature reserve, past a reservoir (with a fine selection of water fowl including swans) to the church, and then a short walk down the hill back to the cottage. Lots of wild flowers to see on this walk - there had clearly been an abundance of snowdrops, but for us in April there were primroses and bluebells just starting to flower, and some wild orchids. This became our 'evening constitutional'. Lots of beaches a short drive away, but also possible to walk (about 2.5 miles) to Little Haven for those who like a ramble.
Lots of thought has gone into making this a fantastic get away from it all rural retreat.

Hidden away in a quiet wooded area. Unimpressive from the outside but a pleasant surprise when you go inside. Lovely and cosy with modern finishes!
The bath with the waterfall tap was my favourite and just added to the experience.
Beds very comfortable! The seperate room with the washing machine and tumble dryer was very handy.
Great beaches and lovely coastal villages within reach.
Can definitely recommend!
