The staff were very lovely and welcoming and the hotel is in a very good location, near to Hoan Kiem Lake. However, the room was advertised as soundproof, yet we could hear everything from the room next door and the corridor. There is an elevator but you have to climb a flight on stairs to get to it (so not really step free access). The AC didn’t work, which wasn’t a huge issue as it wasn’t too hot but was annoying. You’re not allowed to put any toilet roll down the toilet and they provide a little bin next to it to put any tissue in, however even though the room got cleaned every day this bin wasn’t emptied in our 4 night stay. The bathroom was also very mouldy and we were sure we heard rats crawling around in the vents.

Mouldy, damp and horrible.

These rooms were not up to standard at all, the room smelt like wet mould, everything felt damp. There was mould behind the bed and absolutely no windows or fresh air. The door hardly locked either. We ended up booking a hotel down the road it was that bad and unhygienic.

Great staff, old property, tiny bathroom

Strong smell of ant killing powder as soon as we entered the room and every time we entered the room thereafter. Noticed a cockroach on the floor next day when we entered the room. Really small, tiny bathroom with foul smell of plumbing. The hotel staff is great, friendly and helpful. Everyone greets you with a smile. Cleaning staff is very nice and do a thorough job, but it’s just really old property that can’t get makeover with a decent looking bed and wallpaper. Would NOT stay here again

Air con was not working during check in. Had to wait an hour or so for them to get a technician over. Walls were thin so could hear chatter and footsteps whilst in the room Room was clean and comfy

Recently refurbished hotel manned by friendly, English-speaking staff who are knowledgeable of the attractions in Hanoi. Included breakfast was also excellent ... certainly good value for money.

Great value for money in good location

We were staying there for few days during your vacation in Vietnam. Family with 2 young kids. The place provides an excellent return on the price. Location was 5~10 minutes from the old quarter but with much better accessibility. It is only 3 minutes walk from sapa express bus station. Many eateries and small shops around it. The breakfast was good and clean. Highly reccomanded.

The Merci Hotel transferred me to their sister hotel upon arrival, but then did not tell their sister hotel that I had already paid online, making check-out take about 20 minutes and making me very close to late for a meeting. The hotel they transferred me to was nice enough, but I wish they wouldn't overbook online.

Hotel in good location.

Merci Hotel has a wonderful staff who go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We recommend booking a room with a window it's worth paying a little extra. Double glazing reduces significantly the noise from a busy street.Only downside was lift which finishes at 1st Floor and you have to walk down to ground level.Overall a good experience.

Pleasant surprise

Booked here for it's proximity to the Sapa Express bus(100 metres) It was a great location for the lake and old quarter. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was better than expected, in fact they prepared a pack up for our early journey to Sapa. Still struggle with the shower, toilet and sink in one room, I suppose I must try harder.

Great hotel with friendly staff

Good location in close walking distance to the Old Quarter. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious, however, the showers didn't have screens so the entire bathroom would get wet when we had showers. Staff were very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable hotel room.

Lovely place

Hotel staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. The room itself was lovely, the bathroom was a little outdated. Our room was on quite a noisy street but I think that's Hanoi in general!

It's close to the Old Quarter area, Hoan Kiem lake

It was a very nice and comfortable experience staying at Merci Hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel is near the old quarter area . It's close to local market from where you can do shopping .The hotel staff is polite and very good and they understand English pretty well. The hotel staff Ms Lily ,she helped us a lot during our stay there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Good location and friendly staff

This hotel was in the old quarter and within walking distance of a few local sights and the lake. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was comfortable and our room spacious, however being on the Main Street there was a bit of noise from the traffic. Other than that a comfortable hotel to stay at for a few nights in Hanoi.

A Hanoi Joy

Having been on the move for 9 days the Hanoi Merci Hotel was a breath of fresh air. They welcomed me with a drink while the manager sat down with me and gave me gave me a map of the city with a contact number in case I ever got lost. As a solo traveller I felt very looked after by her. The bed was lovely. The hotel is on a main road so easy find.
