Due to lack of cell phone service it took me a minute to find the hotel. Convenient for doing Haast Pass. Staff and locals were friendly. I went to breakfast around 8am and most of the food was gone and was not refilled while I was in the dinning area for 30+ minutes. Also breakfast was not the most flavorful. Dinner was great.

Photos misrepresented both the room and common areas. The bathroom was covered in hair and showed many signs that it was not properly cleaned. Do not recommend.

The room was very clean and it was nice to park in front of our room and had a nice picnic table to sit at, the restaurant was nice and the food and staff were really good. It was only a 1 night stopover but we would definitely stay again.

Generally clean, ok for a stop and staff friendly. However, since recept seldom picks up the phone or return calls - i thought they may want to know the cistern was leaking leaving a smell of pee and there was no heating .

I’ve never stayed in a hotel or motel with such a strong and offensive urine smell. It was absolutely disgusting — the odor was so bad I could still smell it while lying in bed. Worst, the leaking ceiling light 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I arrived around 8 PM after a nearly 9-hour drive, completely exhausted, and had no energy to deal with the situation or try to change rooms. Since I was checking out early the next morning, I felt forced to just endure it. This was a deeply unpleasant and unacceptable experience. A basic level of cleanliness and hygiene is the bare minimum any guest should expect, and this room did not meet even that standard.
