We recently stayed at the home February 20-25th. We had a group of 8 people. Home has a lot of potential but has not been well maintained. As one of the main renters that rented for the group I was extremely disappointed I had to leave and stay somewhere else due to negligence. Black mold is serious and even more serious to those with a severe allergy to it. Several bathrooms, closets and rooms had mold. We also noted several windows panels missing. It was very cold at night with no way to prevent the cold air from coming in. There's a fireplace and was never offered wood even though there was a holder for wood. We had to ask if wood was available and paid for wood for it only to be available the day we left. The broken windows allowed animals to be in the house, 2 cats in particular. Running in the house at night and sleeping on the beds during the day. Once again allergies came into play plus scaring those sleeping when we didn't know it was cats running in the house. Back door was constanly left open from staff allowing the dogs on the property to come in the house as well. Not given a key for the house and there was no way to secure items inside when leaving the property. The house is gated and a grounds keeper stays on the property. Second day we told him we would be back at 5p. We came back with no way in. He came back after 530p. After that we were finally given the gate key for entry. House is not stocked with any amenities. One towel per bed and 1 blanket per bed. No extra towels for pool. Had to use several blankets to sleep and wear a jacket to sleep. No coffee maker and no soap in any of the rooms. Exposed wire in the shower of the master bedroom upstairs. TV broken with only sound in master upstairs. Other rooms tvs were removed. Pool and hot tub was dirty and only hot tub was warm not hot.
We tried to remedy main issues with groundskeeper since we paid him on arrival for his time. Windows were fixed and hot tub was drained and cleaned. This still prevented me from sleeping and enjoying my stay with family. Very sick due to black mold exposure and had to seek medical help. Others in group had mild symptoms from black mold exposure: sore throat, puffy eyes, laryngitis, and cold symptoms. Geographically for information purposes 2 miles from Guatape. Lots of walking or paying for transportation in and out of town.
