Family Time

The house can accommodate a large group easily. We could not have asked for better weather. The biggest disappointment was the area of Lake Huron. If you are looking to run and dive into Lake Huron this is not the place. The bottom here is all rocks that you cannot walk on. Thank goodness we brought with us paddle boards which are grand children rowed around on.Goose poop was everywhere on the property.Maybe time of year for them! Outside could use a good power washing. Being together is most important. Would not rent again because of Huron area. Property management easy to work with.

50th anniversary celebration

There were 18 of us and never felt crowded! Lots of room and plenty of games to keep everyone busy. Tiki bar was great and little ones loved playing in the sand. Having 2 kitchens was a bonus. Refrig in game hut was great also!

Perfect House

We had 16 people stay at the property and had a truly wonderful experience. The house is surrounded by water making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. It also felt secluded even though there were houses nearby. Me and my friends and family are board gamers and there was plenty of room to spread throughout the house to game. There is even a game room that has 2 pool tables, a ping pong table, plastic hatchet throwing and a small putting green! The downstairs area has its own kitchen making it feel like two different property's. Also there are big picturesque windows that face the lake. The owner of the property (Joseph) was quick to answer our calls when we had a question and a pleasure to work with. I am a harsh critic and I have to say that this property is a 10 out of 10 and can easily accommodate a group of 16 people. It is literally the best property I have ever stayed at!

Comfort and location can’t be beat!

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate a friends milestone birthday. The house gave us so much space for 10 adults and everything was great! The weather was not the best so we couldn’t enjoy the outside as much as we had hoped, but plenty of things to do in the game barn! The beds, pillows and couches were so comfortable! The house had all the things we needed to make multiple meals. We had some trouble with the grill (propane issues) and the house could have been cleaned a bit more throughly, but it didn’t ruin our time at all.

Pictures don’t do it justice

This place is gorgeous and spacious. The pictures don’t convey how much room there is and how picturesque the view is looking out onto the lake. They provided lots of little amenities that some places don’t provide, which was a welcome surprise. Very well maintained and would definitely rent again in the future.

Amazing Property

Amazing property with a beautiful private beach and crystal clear lake water. Not to mention the tiki bar. The only thing missing from thinking you're in the tropics is a palm tree! We had a group of 14 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was very clean and the property manager was quick to respond. I would definitely refer friends and family to this property.

Perfect Beach Getaway

Pictures don’t do this property justice. The location and view are amazing. Lots of little touches that made this a wonderful experience. A welcome basket, bathroom toiletries, beach toys, the owner has put a lot of work into making this a great stay. Would definitely come back again!

Fantastic family stay!

Beautiful home and location for a fun filled family gathering. Plenty of space to spread out as well as large spaces to gather together for games and meals. Clean and fresh home. Out door activities were great!

Family Vacation

The house is beautiful and the setting picture perfect. We were a group of 13 adults and 5 kids. We enjoyed having the beach in our backyard and loved having the game barn! Also enjoyed cooking out and sitting around the campfire. The house is close to a couple of cute small towns for a little shopping and of course we had to visit the Grindstone General Store for one of the largest ice cream scoops in Michigan! It was a great time for our family. FYI - the house is actually 7 bedrooms with an open loft with a bed. The loft is the access to the bathroom on this floor and the windows are beautiful but no blinds or curtains so early morning sunshine shines right in and sound from the main floor floats right up.

Port Austin Family Vacation

Enjoyed our week up in Port Austin! The beach was great and we enjoyed our bonfires at night. The large shed with games was great when the rain came in and for the kids to run around in. My only comment is one of the bedrooms is in a loft and does not have a door. Would recommend to others!

The Perfect Stay for Family and Friends!

Our stay at the Grindstone Beach House was simply perfect. It was surprising to see that the house and property were even more beautiful than the pictures impressed us! With all our friends and family, we were able to stay comfortably in the amazingly updated and very clean house. Our children enjoyed swimming, fishing, and playing all the games provided. The kids were well entertained while the parents were able to relax at the Tiki Hut! We couldn't have asked for a better place to get away. Joseph was very prompt in his responding and was super helpful whenever we had a question! We would easily stay at any of his other properties! We highly recommend this awesome beach house!

Family retreat

This large home was perfect for our large family! Bonfire, tiki bar, game room, and spacious couch areas to share cocktails and conversations! The sleeping accommodations were plentiful, along with an extra lower level apartment for our daughter’s growing family. This was an excellent place for our 40th anniversary celebration weekend, and we hope to return again!

Family Reunion

Great place with great amenities. Everything was clean and as promised. It did say 8 bedrooms but there is actually only 7 bedrooms and the final bed is in the loft upstairs but a minor issue for us. Love the kitchen upstairs and down. Spent our evenings with a campfire by the lake. Very relaxing.

Everything you could need in Port Austin

Joseph’s place has everything you could need for a getaway in port Austin. The house is very well equipped with games and a tiki bar, a well stocked kitchen and more. The house has beautiful views out of almost every window and easy access to the nearby bar/restaurant almost directly across the street. Several people in our group were new to Port Austin and amazed at the conveniences of this location. Thanks again to Joseph for your immediate responsiveness during our trip!

Beautiful and Relaxing

We had a wonderful stay at this home. We had 14 adults, 2 ages 8-10, and 3 infants. We never felt crowded and had plenty of room for everyone. The house is very clean and has just about everything you need. We utilized every part of the property. The beautiful beach during the day, the fire pit and tiki bar at night, and the kids and adults had a ton of fun in the garage with all the games.

Wonderful experience

Highly recommend!

House is beautiful, plenty of room and comfy beds. Everything down to having enough plates and cups for several meals was available to us! The owner was very kind as well. Highly recommend! We will be back.

Beautiful home, gorgeous location

My friends and I absolutely loved this home; it was exactly as pictured. It was perfectly clean, every amenity worked, the TVs all had Spotify/Netflix, the kitchen is gorgeous, and the rooms were impeccably clean. Communication with the owner was seamless and he was so gracious with us a a big group (we had 15). The tiki bar and bonfire are absolutely a highlight; the tiki bar even has a mini fridge and a TV built into it so you can put music on while you look out at the water. Spectacular stay, 10/10 recommend!

Family & friends get together

The house was upgraded and in an excellent location. We had a blast in the lake and outdoor setup (bar, fire pit, game room, sand beach). Plenty of space for our group of 20. Joseph was very responsive and made sure our stay went as planned. Highly recommend the place for a big group.

Stunning Beachfront Property

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was beautifully decorated, clean and well equipped. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. We enjoyed morning coffee on the balcony watching the sunrise; a Pure Michigan view. The immediate area is fairly quiet which is just what we wanted. There was a great diner just a few steps from the house and a short drive into Port Austin or Harbor Beach where we went kayaking, horseback riding and took a boat tour. The lake is pretty shallow a good distance from shore so the kids enjoyed swimming and kayaking right behind the house. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. If you are an ice cream fan, make sure to stop at the Grindstone General Store for the largest ice cream scoops you have ever seen! We would definitely stay here again.
