The Hotel Grand was a pleasant experience

Pros: Clean, modern, affordable, close to interstate and South Locust.
The place looks newly renovated and was very clean. The bar, Images, was upscale/modern and featured a DJ and a dance floor. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. I was a little concerned by the generic brand but this will definitely be the place we stay every time we are in Grand Island.

Dated

The hotel is huge and strung out in a number of 'blocks' that are a long walk from reception. All the rooms have windows that either front the parking lot or the interior hallway. The rooms have blackout curtains of course but it still does not feel very private. The rooms seem to have had a remodel to bring them up to date but the overall effect is dated. Unless you are visiting the local fairgrounds, the hotel location is not exactly the nicest part of town. There are definitely nicer places to stay in Grand Island for just a few dollars more. There was nothing wrong, per se, and the staff was nice, but the overall effect is a bit tawdry.

We do have a large Convention Center, but we offer parking all around the building to ensure you can park only a few feet from your room. This was an excellent overall experience.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, nice fitness center
The location is just a few blocks from the Nebraska State Fair. Attending the State Fair was the reason for our travel to Grand Island. The room location was good and the amenities were awesome! I would chose this hotel again when staying in Grand Island!

Very Nice

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was lovely, it was very up to date and the service was great. The only comment I have is that there were very nice new LG HD TV's but not fridge or microwave. I would much rather had a that then the TV. They accommodated our very larger group well and we look foward to coming again next year.

It was ok..

I paid about $* for this room and I could have had an equally nice, if not a little better room at the Super 8 for 1/2 that price. The staff was not friendly at all from check in to check out. The pool area was dark and there were about 6 chairs in the entire area for over 15-20 people who were there. I saw housekeeping cleaning a room and she was taking the cups off her cart and had her hands full, so she put the cups (the ones in plastic that say Holiday Inn they leave by your sink) in her mouth to carry them. Our room was upstairs in an enclosed hallway that was extremely loud and HOT. All the rooms in this hallway had their a/c units going which made walking through this enclosed outside hallway uncomfortable. The doors were noisy as people went in and out. The beds were hard and our room would never get cool. Our drain in the shower never really drained, and there were two adults and 2 children trying to bathe. The next morning at breakfast, the staff there were unfriendly and it made for a very unpleasant eating experience. Overall, the stay was "ok" but when you plan a family trip and save your money so everyone has a nice time, you want to have a "good" stay.

A pleasant oasis for driving through Nebraska

Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Several activities for kids including indoor pool, ping-pong, miniature golf, and table pool. We did eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant and found it quit adequate. On the morning that we were there, it was a buffet with good variety and quality of food items. We had been given meal coupons for the kids at check-in, so the kids ate for free. Restaurant and hotel staff were pleasant and attentive. Room rates were reasonable. If you have time, there is a good sized water park just a couple of blocks from the hotel that looked like fun. Wal-Mart is also close in case you need to pick up forgotten necessities.
