No one who is physically challenged or a solo traveller should stay at this hotel. The reception closes at 9 pm with staff then no longer in the building including no security. The internal premises are left in the dark with low visibility. The entry door to be used after 9 pm is very difficult to open. I tried for 15 minutes on my first night of staying. Finally got assistance to open door from a woman walking her dog. She tried opening the door for 5 minutes before being successful. This was definitely a security issue for me and I felt very unsafe. I am mobility challenged so faced stairs to climb. The restaurant was also not open for dinner for me entire stay. I will never stay again at this hotel. I have been frequently visiting Gouda since 1993.

Excellent hotel! I love the decor and little details that made our stay comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed. We enjoyed breakfast buffet with made to order egg dishes. Very charming place. I highly recommend this hotel.

My room had a very steep open tread staircase up to the bedroom. All sorts of people would not have found it suitable. I was there on a Monday. The bar and restaurant was closed. I would not have booked if i'd known.

This place was incredible. The history, the renovations, the quality, the service, the food, everything was amazing. We will definitely stay here again. Parking provided by hotel was excellent, there was a turn down service that was super cute. Great walking to the square.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The town is just quaint and friendly. I would definitely visit this town. If you are in the area it was one of my favorite places in the Netherlands.

Magical hotel in every way

We made a last minute decision to spend a night in Gouda en route to Utrecht & chose this hotel because the pix of this historic building looked lovely. From arriving at the beautiful building we were enchanted. The hotel (we learned) was 4 years in creation, and now has been open 4 years. The care, thought, imagination shows in everything. Our room was at the top of the hotel (one of their two level rooms) decorated with flair, wonderfully comfortable bed & cozy bedding, excellent shower, roomy sitting area, blissfully quiet. The rest of this hotel is imaginatively decorated: each area has its own character from sophisticated dining room to plush lounging areas. But perhaps best of all? The staff is so warm, welcoming and thoughtful. Lastly, location is ideal for exploring all the sights of historic Gouda. We enjoyed stepping out of the hotel and into the heart of the most charming area of Gouda. The Relais & Chateau of Gouda is definitely s one of a kind place to stay: an outstanding choice for visiting Gouda.
