There are wonderful fishing spots in the Gaular River; we offer a boat on Lake Viksdalsvatnet. Fossestien's waymarked paths provide many different mountain trails. Our week in Viksdalen was unforgettable. The location is absolutely stunning—quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by natural beauty. The house was perfect for our two families, offering plenty of space and comfort. Everything was spotless, and the sound of the nearby waterfall added such a special charm. Torunn and Lars Egil were wonderful hosts—very welcoming and helpful. We especially loved relaxing in the hot tub each evening, taking in the majestic views. The home was also conveniently located for day trips, allowing us to explore many amazing parts of the Norwegian fjords. This was the perfect place to experience the best of Norway, and we would love to return.

Solitude

Experiencing Norway in its splendor and being in to every moment is how it felt and was a blast to one and all in the family. A must to go place and can’s thank enough for the hospatilty of Lars and having this beautiful home to experience Norway in the best manner possible. Plenty to do near by and day trips as needed and not enough days to fit in all. Enjoyed the solitude most of the day and being in nature.

We had a wonderful time in Viksdalen with our extended family. We had everything that we needed or could want in the house. We loved the separate lakeside cabin but wished that we had discovered it sooner, rather than at then end of the holiday. If we could have changed anything it would be that the wonderful view wasn`t obscured by the owners roofline. It is very peaceful here and if you like solitude then this place has it in covered.

Once in a lifetime experience! Hopefully twice!

I have to say that this was one of the best vacations our family has ever been on. I took my wife, two boys, and Dad. We stayed in this beautiful home and took daily excursions to nearby attractions. The house was better than can be seen in the pictures. We were also able to use a motorboat to go fish daily and go to a nearby beach. Everyone we bumped into seemed friendly and hospitable. The local market that is walking distance had most things that were needed. You are able to fuel up your vehicle there as well. I can’t speak enough praise about Lars and his family. They are amazing and very nice with the kids. I’m not the best writer but if your looking to experience real Norway with the help of a friendly host family, This is your place. Thank you Lars!!!

Lars and Torunn's home is set in a beautiful, idyllic valley in Viksdalen. The home is equipped with all modern appliances, is spacious, spotless and can certainly accommodate two families with ease. There are many day trips from the house taking you in every direction where beauty is everywhere. There are waterfalls, lakes, spectacular hiking and gorgeous mountains all within minutes from the home. We had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable stays we have ever had in our 20 years of travel. They were wonderful hosts and we hope to return again someday. Thank you both for everything.....we truly had a wonderful time.

Super clean, stylish place with tons of space in wonderfully peaceful location

My party of 5 had more than enough room in this spacious unit. It was a great way to start out our first visit to Norway. We thoroughly enjoyed the location. We took comfortable day trips in each direction finding amazing scenery all around. We also spent some down time just hanging out in the house and we used the Netflix, hot tub, and full kitchen extensively. We also took the row boat out on the lake which was very fun! We were extremely comfortable and we enjoyed having ample space and the excellent ambiance. I made many friends jealous with the pics of the views! Lars was very nice and it was a pleasure meeting him and staying at his home.

This home is very new, upscale, luxurious, clean and comfortable, just as described only better. We traveled by car and saw much of western Norway and fjords from Bergen to Aslund, in mid May. The house is located in the center of the area in a very pretty and bucolic valley with lakes surrounded by mountains, a rushing river, lush greenery, rock and waterfalls. So beautiful. We only wished that we had been able to spend more time there. Lars was super helpful, such as quickly showing us how to work any of the house equipment that we were unfamiliar with when we arrived.

Amazing views, beautiful home, hot tub

Loved staying in this home. We had 4 couples in our group and there was plenty of privacy for everyone. We traveled in May, and the views were beautiful with the snow capped mountains and green pastures. Lars was excellent to work with, he even prepped his boat for us to use even though the weather didn’t permit. Definitely recommend staying here.

The house is absolutely perfect! We had 7 people and have traveled together a lot. lars’s House is the best we have ever experienced! Absolutely spotless house. Amazing views and locale. Fantastic communication and help when asked for. We thoroughly enjoyed our late March super snowy stay and will hopefully be returning to see what a Viksdalen Summer is like!

Outstanding location and property for a getaway holiday

My wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and we really could not have chosen a better place, 5 stars and so much more. Views of meadows and lakes and snow covered mountains from every room. The owner Lars-Engil lived next door and was very helpful; they built the house 2 years ago and it is stunning – spacious, great décor, very well equipped kitchen – a pleasure to cook in, spotless, even a hot tub, log fire and candles on the patio with mountain views, billiards and darts in the cellar. This house would feel spacious with 8 people no problem as the first floor has its own lounge and kitchen too – great for groups – we hope to take our extended family with us next time and stay the whole holiday here – it is such a good base for day tours around beautiful fjords, lakes and mountains – for example only 8 min drive north on E13 and we were high and driving thorough a winter wonderland at Harklau and beyond, two hours to the coast on the E609. Or walk from the house around the village valley with lakes, woods, and beautiful rapids river only two minutes from the house. So worth the 30 minute beautiful drive from Sande – nearest town and restaurant. Self-catering is easy with a well-equipped locally run store in the village. We have no hesitation recommending this property.....you will not be disappointed with any aspect of your stay and you will want to return.

In dem wunderschönen Haus bleiben keine Wünsche offen. Es ist alles vorhanden. Nicht nur das Interieur ist perfekt sonder auch die Ausstattung. Es gibt Gewürze, Handtücher und alles was wir zum Kochen benötigen. Gleiches gilt für das Bad, inclusive Waschmittel. Das hatten wir so nicht erwartet. Unser Host Lars Egil hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und uns alles gezeigt und erklärt. Auch während unseres Aufenthalts war er jederzeit ansprechbar. Wir können die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen.

Great stay!

It was amazing, the house is big and so lovely, we felt immediately at home. The owner is very friendly as well. The supermarket is around the corner where you can buy everything. We used the jaccuzi and also the boat on the lake which is near the house. The area is beautiful and this place is more than recommend!

A wonderful house, extremely well equipped. Lars-Egil is a perfect host: hospitable, accessible and friendly, and at the same time discreet and non-meddling. Sehr komfortables Haus in toller Umgebung

Wir waren für 2 Wochen dort und es war toll. Das Haus war sehr sauber und es ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Durch die 2 getrennten Wohnungen (oben und unten) ist es auch bestens für 2 Familien geeignet. Lars-Egil hat uns bei Ankunft alles gezeigt und erklärt und war auch bei Fragen sehr hilfsbereit. Auf alle Fälle sehr zu empfehlen - wir würden gerne wiederkommen!
