Strategic location with gorgeous ocean view

Stayed at Jane’s property for a week and host and property manager (Gil) were very pleasant to work with. Clear instructions given before, during and after our stay. Location is situated on a Main Street with a bus stop in front of property. It can get noisy but that’s with city living. With a car rental, I got to many places within 10 minutes and you can even walk across the street to Magnolia park and close to Savoy Palace. The view was gorgeous every single day. There is some renovation going on right now next to the apartment but we were not bothered by it. The apartment was big and very comfortable. The parking is kinda tight so a small compact car is recommended if you want to park in the apartment itself. Continente (supermarket) is about 5 mins drive away. Super convenient. Thank you, Jane, for sharing the apartment with us and thanks Gil for meeting with us to show us the apartment and giving us the keys.

Spacious Condo

Our second stay here. Only negative is the road noise from the traffic circle but this can be said for many locations in Funchal. Would not hesitant to stay here again.

The apartment is spotless & well equipped & Gill, the housekeeper is extremely pleasant & obliging. However, there were downsides to our stay: A short time before our arrival we were notified by the owner, that we had to telephone Gill on arrival to arrange for her to meet us with the keys. I struggled to convince Jane that since the U.K. is no longer part of the E.U. that my telephone contract does not allow me to make what are now International calls. Gill stepped in & allowed us to have her Email address so I could Email her from the Airport. Another problem being; the day after arrival, despite our key opening the deadlock, we could not release the actual door latch, eventually after lots of attempts, the latch finally released for a reason unknown. We had the same problem in the evening, this time, no matter how many attempts we had, the latch would not release. Regrettably I could not contact anyone, but fortunately after over ½ hour the door eventually opened. Gill eventually got back to me & met us the next day & showed us how to unlock the door. The lock is incorrectly adjusted, as you have to pull the door towards you, whilst turning the key. As nice as the apartment is, it is situated on a hill, just above a roundabout & all of the roads are extremely busy & noisy, even during the night. The views are from the balconies are good, but we didn't find any pleasure sitting on them due to the traffic noise & fumes from a lot of the vehicles wafting up.

Loved our stay

We had a lovely time in Jane’s home . It was spotless and very roomy . Loved the view from the kitchen . Had everything we needed there . It is at the top of a hill but it kept us both fit . Very safe and Maderia is a beautiful country . Hope to return and have advised all our friends how beautiful it is .Gill who met Us on the first night took us down into the town to show us a supermarket . We found the next day we were very close to everything . Daniel who Jane advise for a taxi was on time for our arrival and very early drop off .Jane also passed over whatsap tel numbers for both GIll and Daniel which was good .we went on 2 trips which we found were so good all over the island and the drivers were so good at giving us information at the different stops .beautiful park just down the road with a really good cafe .

A lovely apartment, great location!

We were away for a few days visiting family and had a lovely stay here! The location is amazing, 15 mins into Funchal and around 20-25 mins to the beach such as Lido and Ponta Gorda. Close to amenities too. Lovely well-kept spacious apartment that we all loved, lovely views of the ocean from the balconies! Highly recommend, and a great price too!

Nice place

Nice place clean and close to the main town. Located at a busy roundabout so traffic noise can be loud at times. Only problem was with the front door lock not opening. It was newly installed and had several times it wouldn’t open. Spent several hours over the five day trying to get in. Once the lock problem is corrected I would highly recommend this place. ,

Very centrally located spacious flat!

Our stay at Jane’s place was really great! The flat is very centrally located so you can get to Lido or the City center easily by walk. There’s a bus stop in front of the house for those who would like to take public transport. The flat is on a busy road so it can get a bit noisy if you keep the balcony door open. It was very spacious and with great view. We’d definitely consider staying again.

Great Apartment

A lovely, large apartment very close to the centre of Funchal. There are good transport links with a bus stop right outside which I appreciated. Gill, who greeted us was delightful and helpful during our 6 week stay. Breakfast on the balcony each morning was wonderful, where we enjoyed the view of the Magnolia Gardens and the sea beyond. Yes, there was traffic noise, but you have to accept that in a city. The compensation was lots of excellent restaurants and bars on the doorstep. A great base for exploring the beautiful island of Madeira.

Fantastic apartment let down by traffic noise.

This is a wonderful apartment - everything you need is there. The kitchen has a wonderful view over the park and down to the sea. However we had to close the bedroom windows at night and wear ear plugs to sleep due to the proximity of roads.

A short break in Madeira

This is a lovely, well equipped apartment, maintained in excellent condition and spotlessly clean with plenty of space for a family with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is well located with an excellent bus service directly outside the apartment, and for the more energetic, there is a 25 minute walk into the heart of Funchal. The only minor negative issue is that it is situated on a main road and at times there is some traffic noise, but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quality apartment.

Perfect apartment in a great location

We have had a wonderful week in this apartment. Jane has provided everything that you could possibly need. The view from the kitchen balcony is amazing and it was a pleasure to prepare breakfast while watching the sun rise and the cruise ships coming into port. We used the other balconies later in the day for afternoon sun. The bus stop right outside the apartment is very useful for getting to the supermarket which is up a steep hill. We decided not to take the bus back and walk back down. It is a fifteen minute walk back down the hill from the supermarket and you get a great view on the way down. The location was great as we were in between the old town and the lido area. It is any easy and interesting walk downhill to the old town and a couple of times we used a taxi to return to the apartment at a cost of five euros. Before we arrived Jane sent lots of very helpful information regarding buses attractions bakeries nearby etc. When we arrived Gill who looks after the apartment was waiting to meet us and show us around. The apartment is very well kept and spotlessly clean. We plan to return to Madeira and would love to stay here again.

a spacious and well furnished apartment with three balconies allowing plenty of leisure space

we enjoyed the good location of the apartment being within walking distance of the old town and the newer tourist areas.the bus stop outside the entrance takes you to the large supermarket about two miles away.We found plenty of restaurants and bars locally and were able to book our Island trips from one of the many agents shops in the vicinity. A beautiful and interesting island ---we shall return and hopefully book this comfortable apartment again.

Home from home

We had a marvellous holiday in Madeira staying in Jane's apartment during January 2018. The apartment is very spacious and would accommodate 6 people easily, though we didn't feel it was too big for just us two. The fact that there are two bathrooms makes life so much easier. There are lovely views to towards the sea from the kitchen balcony which faces south. We enjoyed many breakfasts sitting here watching the boats pass by. The lounge and two larger bedrooms have balconies where we sat later in the afternoon. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped and it was therefore easy to self cater. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Jill the apartment manager was really welcoming and helpful. We will certainly stay here again in the near future, as we really did feel that we were at home. And, the two local bakeries within walking distance were amazing.

Spacious, comfortable apartment

We really enjoyed our one week stay in this well equipped, spacious apartment. It was a lovely place to relax, having furnished balconies on either side, both with sea views, and very comfortable lounge and dining areas. Inevitably with busy roads around, there is some traffic noise but this was not a problem for us. The apartment is fortunate to have a public garden below it to one side and we felt this was an added bonus, enhancing the sea view from the apartment. It was also great to have two bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and had various welcome basic supplies in the cupboards. Jane provided us with useful information in advance and we really liked the local bakery and fruit and vegetable shop up the hill from the apartment. We rented a car and found this useful, especially as the island has different micro-climates and we were able to head out to the west and north which tended to have more sun in early June when we were there. We were able to use the parking space available in the apartment car park (recommended for small car only). We walked into the centre of Funchal, this is a pleasant 20 minute walk down the hill and along the main avenue, with several lovely gardens along the way. We didn't use the buses but this would be an option as they stop near the apartment. We ate out at various restaurants in Funchal and the Lido area (at a similar distance from the apartment) and enjoyed the free live street music and fireworks in Funchal during the festival taking place while we were there. The apartment was a great base for exploring this beautiful island and the different areas of Funchal.

Perfect apartment in great location

This was our third visit to Funchal but our first in an apartment. From the original inquiry Jane was very prompt with her responses, no question went unanswered. The photographs don't do the property justice, it's huge! Light and airy with the bedrooms benefiting from external Venetian blinds so the rooms are very cool in heat of the day. The furniture and equipment are of an excellent standard with the kitchen and lounge balconies both furnished. The apartment is located on an incline but nothing too drastic. The number 8 bus stops just outside the entrance if coming back from the town or if you get on the same bus it will take you up to the large supermarket Continente. We would have no hesitation in recommending this amazing apartment to anyone and have Jane's details for any future visits to this wonderful island!

Very nice apartment and great location

We stayed in January 2016, Jane was very helpful with advice and tips. The location was perfect for us, walkable to Funchal (15 minutes) and the Lido about the same. The apartment was well appointed and very clean. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is that it can be a little noisy from traffic but that would not stop us returning.

Famely New Year holliday 2015-16

We are a famely from Norway, and we have been on Holiday at Madeira many times now. This was the first time in this appartmen :-) and not the last. We liked to stay here. There is a short walk to down town. There is not long way to resturants and shoops, and you can get the most by walking.. There is plenty of room for a famely and our girls liked that they got there ovn bed room.. Al in al, we had a very nice stay in this appartment, and we have already booked it again for the 2016 summer holiday.. :-) Famely from Norway..
