The Space:

Nestled among the reddish plains of the Alentejo, Monte do Sossego is a peaceful retreat where time slows down. This traditional farmhouse, with its whitewashed façade and characteristic red-tiled roof, welcomes up to 8 guests.

The rustic kitchen, featuring dark wood furnishings and exposed wooden beams, invites guests to gather and enjoy homemade meals together, while the living room, with its charming brick arches, forms the social heart of the house. Outside, the swimming pool, with optional heating*, surrounded by centuries-old cork oak trees, offers a private oasis to enjoy the endless sunny days of the Alentejo.

Every detail of this home reflects the essence of Alentejo’s traditional architecture and the rural lifestyle that defines this unique region.

The property also includes two bedrooms with independent exterior access, providing added privacy and a direct connection to the peaceful surroundings of the estate.



*Pool heating is available for €70 per night, exclusively for stays of at least 5 nights. If you would like to use the heated plunge pool, please request the heating at least 4 days before arrival to ensure it is ready for your stay.



Guest Access:

Guests of Monte do Sossego have exclusive access to the entire property, ensuring complete privacy and tranquility. This includes the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the fully equipped dark wood kitchen, the inviting brick-arched living room, and the dining room. Outdoors, you'll find the heated swimming pool, surrounded by the serene Alentejo landscape, the patio or balcony, the garden or backyard and the front yard. Private parking is available for multiple vehicles. Embrace the freedom to explore every corner of this rural retreat.

The Portugal Active concierge service is available 24/7 to make every wish come true - private excursions, in‑house chef, massages, luxury transfers, or any special request. Please request services at least 72 hours in advance so we can exceed your expectations.

- During your stay, regular pool maintenance may occur. These interventions are essential to ensure all equipment remains clean, functional, and safe to use.

- During high season (May to October), the pool is maintained regularly to guarantee the best experience for guests.

- In low season (November to April), the pool remains fully operational with ongoing maintenance, ensuring comfort and quality year‑round.

- *To use the heated pool, available at an additional cost of €70 per night, a minimum stay of 5 nights is required, and heating must be requested at least 4 days before arrival.

Monte do Sossego is located just 30 km from Monsaraz and Moura, both well connected by main roads. The property offers generous private parking for multiple vehicles. A rental car is essential for exploring the region, with several options available in Moura (5 km). Public transportation (buses) connects the area to Ferreira do Alentejo (15 km) and Beja (45 km). Walking trails and local paths lead you through nearby villages and rural landscapes, while Monsaraz and the Alqueva Lake are easily accessible for day trips or weekend outings.

Just steps from the property, guests can also experience the serenity of the Alentejo’s rural setting. In the adjacent field live recently sheared, very gentle sheep that happily accept small fruit peels or vegetable scraps through the fence behind the annex. Across the road, the neighbor has a friendly young donkey, equally calm, who enjoys the same small treats. It’s a simple and authentic experience, especially appreciated by families and by anyone seeking a genuine connection with the countryside.
