The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was fantastic, However the hotel is in need of attention, the rusting sign on the roof when you drive in is not a good start, the loss chipping from the drive are spilling out onto the road and looks a mess, the room was just about clean enough but the windows in the bathroom were both painted shut and the silicon

Onsite parking which is good and a great welcome by staff. The bedroom was compact but a superb view of the Bass Rock and sea. However the decor was abmismal. On one side of the very dark coloured wall there were loads of scuffs right along the wall. Also the curtains were crushed and mis-matched. It was like someone had just taken them out of their wrapping and hung them straight up.

The best thing was sitting in the hot tub overlooking the North Sea & hearing the waves coming in & feeling the fresh sea breeze around our faces while our bodies were warm underwater!!! The evening meal was exceptional, the options, the quality & especially the presentation with taste to match. Breakfast was also lovely. No supplement for the more unusual options & good service too. Room was lovely, big, comfortable bed, both a bath & a shower. Well appointed. All in all a great stay for our anniversary.

I’m not an independent hotel/B&B guy. I normally stay in one of the franchise hotels. But, I needed a room for 2 nights and it was during the Fringe and the Oasis weekend. This meant all hotel prices were CRAZY (>£200 for a night at a Premier Inn - I don’t think so!) The Bayswell had a room with a sea view(beautiful) including breakfast for £90 via Expedia. My room was sufficient. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. My room was definitely not the sort of room you would spend any time in, other than to sleep and wash/shower. This wasn’t a problem for me, as I’d booked what was probably one of the smaller/cheaper rooms. My room was hot, but not enough to stop me sleeping. Breakfast was nice. The ingredients were all of good quality, with my only negative comments being the one piece of sorry looking bacon and cold beans served the first morning. I went for bacon and egg on toast the second morning and received two lovely slices of bacon. Was it worth £90 ? During the Fringe/OASIS = Yes. But I’d say the quality of MY room was lower than a typical Premier Inn. I did find the wifi to be close to useless. Most times failing to connect and when it did it was painfully slow. This was both from my room and in the breakfast area. All the staff were very friendly.

A good one night stay, with a beautiful see view. Our room was in need of some TLC and a deep clean but the view made up for that. It was a bit expensive for what it was but that could be due to proximity to Edinburgh and the busy Fringe month. The breakfast was lovely and all the hotel staff were very friendly.

The hotel staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble . The sea view was mesmorizing. The breakfast was good, maybe more local bacon would be nice? Very comfortable rooms, may need a bit of tweeking, but overall, absolutely, lovely stay. Near to the train station to get to Edinburgh. Thankyou

Save your money- DON’T STAY HERE

Originally booked for 2 however my circumstances changed as my husband had to work and couldn’t get my children watched explained on check in, the next morning I was made to feel like a criminal as I had my children in a hot tub suite, that I had paid nearly £300 for, the staff were so rude as I broke the rules and allowed my 10 year old, supervised in the hot tub. It was my birthday and I wanted to do something special but this treatment was just awful. The rooms are dirty I am not exaggerating when I say I could write in the dust on my bedside table.I had to go and get tablets as I am allergic to dust and my eyes were swollen when I woke up. I paid nearly £300 for a night to stay here, to be treated terribly and sleep in a dirty room. I am very much regretting my decision with this hotel. We had a great time at Foxlake near by. The best thing about this place is the hot tub but there are many rules to follow at this hotel. It is not family friendly. The rooms are not great.

The building was very nice old stonework which was in good condition. The inside was nicely done. The staff were very nice and easy to get on with. Bar staff were very efficient and friendly. Loved the sea view from the hot tub ground floor junior apartments, hot tubs were great, bathrobes were provided along with large bath towels. Will return.

Great breakfast, very friendly staff, very clean room. The only 2 things I would say that could improve: there was no flat sheet, and being summer time, the room was warm and too hot to sleep with the duvet, so a flat sheet was needed. The room could use some updating, toilet flush only worked after pressing several times. The window was really old and hard to open and close. Good pillows, good towels. And again, the best staff. Slightly pricey for the room you get.

This hotel is old fashioned in a beautiful building on the edge of the coastline. Get a sea view it is worth it. My solo room was a good size, the breakfast was in a lovely sea view dining room, the staff were extremely lovely and helpful. The bathroom needs updating but was spotlessly clean.

Stayed here to be close to a wedding venue, liked the location , looking out to the sea, the building looks lovely from the outside but sadly it’s in need of some updating, it’s a bit unloved looking, decor is tired, the rooms are basic, beds are hard, lighting not up to much, chipped paint everywhere really, for £169 a night it didn’t cut it. Room had kettle and nice teas and coffees, with shortbread biscuits. Toiletries were stunning and the bathroom is fairly modern , windows need a lot of restoring , chipped and old looking paint. This could be such a treasure if some money was spent on decor updates. Breakfast is good and filling.
