The property is great for what it is: a rustic location right on the river. No frills! They mean it when they say bring your own towels/bedding. But the kitchen works fine, good sized fridge, the bed was quite comfortable, and the view was wonderful.I'm giving 4 stars because at times, it was TOO rustic. The electrical outlets in the bedroom seem to be loose, the water never got that hot, WiFi wouldn't reach to the bedrooms, that sort of thing. Which, if the weather had been better, I might not have noticed and, as it was, it all worked as needed.Sue and Norm were very friendly, welcoming, and I did enjoy my stay.

Cottage was clean and comfortable. Hosts were super welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The A/C unit could use an upgrade or another one added to the cottage as it had a hard time cooling the space. There to fish and caught Catfish, Perch and Bass.

What we needed

As the title states staying at the cottage was exactly what our family needed. The owners were very nice and communicative the place was clean and quiet. We had grandparents, my wife and I and our child but there's enough room here for all of us to enjoy family time but also each have our own space when needed. In terms of fishing we mainly caught channel cats and sturgeon off the dock fishing off the bottom but we're lucky enough that each one was bigger than the last. It was far enough away from towns that our child was able to see the stars for the first time and overall lovely enough that we created many a core memory for her. Definitely hope to choose this cottage again in the future!

Lovely view

Lovely view of river at this property. Be sure to bring linens. Hosts were gracious and brought sheets. Pillows etc. Over. Thank goodness because we didn't bring any due to description saying linens were included under property amenities. Host did send email which went under our radar mentioning no linens etc. No railing by the step to get in. And it's a sketchy step. I'm only mentioning this cause our other couple was older and the old wooden step was higher than average. The view is incredible. My complaint would be the smell of the whole cabin. A candle did help. It could use a major cleaning and needs a little help but ... It's not like we spent a huge amount of money to stay there.

Relaxing

The views were beautiful, the colors were starting to turn, so we enjoyed the dock in the morning with coffee, and the stars at night with hot tea. Will definitely be back!

Pleasant

Space was clean and of good size. The single window a/c unit had difficulty keeping up with the heat. Property owner welcomed me as I arrived, which was very helpful since the building is not well marked. The directions provided were very helpful. Considering an autumn stay.

It served its purpose

Needs some updating and fixing. Mouse traps arranged all around house. Not the most clean. I wouldn't of taken a shower in the shower if you'd paid me to. When it says airconditioned, they mean one little window unit that could barely keep up. Bedrooms were hot! Sue and Norm, great hosts! House just needs a little work and updating.

Get Away

It was a cute place on the Chippewa River. We enjoyed grilling out and our view from the dining room table was spectacular. We also enjoyed the ducks coming right up to us . Having fires in the fire pit in the evening and watching the sunset and the stars . A lot of neat places to explore in the area and great hiking trails. Norm and Sue were great hosts .

Awesome view of Chippewa River

We found Sue and Norm’s place after abandoning plans to tent camp - rainy week predicted. Beautiful setting along the Chippewa River. Comfortable beds. Dining and relaxing seating area with large window view of the River. Fire ring out side between the cabin and water - we were able to use it two of the nights. From here, we drove to nearby sites to hike portions of the beautiful Ice Age Trail. Great bird watching both at the cabin and on the Trail. Nearby Cornell has 2 good ice cream shops plus we enjoyed pizza and beer at the Moonridge Brewing Company in Cornell. Norm and Sue were great hosts and responsive to inquiries. Sue even called during one storm to make sure we were ok.

Being honest

Norm and Sue were very good about helping us find their rental. The listing had the wrong address, but Sue had called to find out our arrival time and she gave correct address. However, GPS wasn't able to find it. We had wonderful view of river and cottage was spacious. But, the place needs a good cleaning. Especially bathroom/shower and cobwebs/dust throughout. If clean, we'd make it a repeat location.
