Very basic, only way to explain this hotel is a converted pub on a council estate. I felt unsafe, wouldn't have my window open on ground floor at night a this was at the back of a pub and no restriction to stop someone being able to climb in. could hear noise from other rooms and outside. woken by early morning pub delivery (0650) Food is very poor, cant call it an attached restaurant, its part of the pub that will sell a burger so you can sit at a dirty table. Breakfast food or experience is not enjoyable. But if you need basic and not alone would be fine

We would highly recommend this property. Room spacious and very clean. Great bed. Handy location for public transport into Edinburgh. Staff friendly. Parking very easy. Very quiet and safe location. Very good breakfast.

Did not like the fact that there are 3 steps up to the ground floor rooms . The pavements around the building are not very good for those with sight and/or mobility issues.

Think twice before staying here

Restaurant and lounge bar were closed due to not having a chef. If we had been advised we would not have stayed there. When away for a few days break it is nice to relax and enjoy a glass of something along with your evening meal in the hotel and not having to drive to a restaurant. The limited staff were all friendly, but definitely got the impression that the hotel was operating on a shoe string with a lack of attention to detail. We have stayed there several times in the past and therefore very disappointed especially with not being advised in advance about the lack of facilities.

Awesome stay

This hotel is outstanding and from the outside you think hmm but inside it is well decorated and cleaned . The bedroom was spotless and had a kettle with tea and coffee to make a drink. The bathroom was clean and modern and a great shower and well designed and fitted out. Breakfast was great such a great choice from toast to cereal.. and a cooked breakfast that was delicious and quality items with a great waitress. Trust me worth staying .

I booked this hotel for one of our engineers as it stated on Hotels.com that breakfast was included and that there were restaurant facilities - it quite clearly states Mackenzies open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Our engineer got there expecting a hot meal after a long day on site - and was told that the restaurant at the hotel hadn't been open for weeks!!! They were still doing breakfasts though. If it said that on the website I wouldn't have booked him in there !!! Very misleading.

Chose this hotel from others in the area for the restaurant, it doesn’t have one permanently closed, shower cold in evening luke warm in morning, breakfast ok, bed and pillows hard
