Hotel Deva - Does The Job
Lonely Planet recommend Hotel Deva and I can say it was fine. The toilet paper is a bit industrial and the water can need running for a couple of minutes to heat up but that is Romania! Ten minutes from the station and easy to find. Large room. Comfortable bed. TV worked. Air conditioning worked. Quiet. Clean bathroom with working shower. Perfect for me. Just 100 metres down the road to the right opposite the Transylvannian Institute (?) is the tree where you wait for the MaxiTaxi to Hunedoara and onto the Castle and Densus Church. The lady on reception and her friend were very helpful to get me on my way to Hunedoara.
