Hotel is aging but is an enjoyable stay. All rooms but basement have balconies, staff is nice, attached pool and restaurant. Despite being a family hotel it was quiet at night. The highway side is a bit noisy but the back side has view of the river. Outside of Fernie but close to town. We’ve stayed twice and enjoyed it both times. The Indian restaurant is no longer part of the hotel despite it appearing in the Stanford website

The hotel looks enticing from the highway, but what you see is pretty much all you get! The pool/hottub/sauna was the best part of the stay. The rooms are cramped and very visibly dated and have an “unfinished” appearance (peeling wall paper, half painted door, water damaged ceiling and floor, tiny bathroom, extremely scented lotion/body wash). The coverlet on the bed masked the gritty feeling duvet. Breakfast was disappointing. Major issues with the waffle maker, weird/half frozen muffins, and limited other options. Overall, would try another hotel in the area before returning here.

The beds were comfortable. Room was small. It says family suite, but that just means 3 beds, one in the loft. Only one chair, but not enough room for more. Didn't have enough towels, etc for 5 people, had to get more. Weren't many places to hang damp towels. Small bathroom (only one bathroom).

Had a nice stay, property definitely showing its age. Stayed in the condo, nice and quiet though the bathtub had gunk in every hole possible. Kitchen had what you would need a kitchen to have, living area as well. The view of the mountain and lake are breathtaking! Overall a good stay, would recommend.

Poor customer service, 4 days into our stay-I asked if our room could be cleaned and the toilet paper restocked. I asked at 9am and said we were leaving for a hike (could it please be done while we’re gone.) Got back to the hotel-no toilet paper. Asked again at 2pm-said we’d go to the pool to leave the room empty so they could clean it. Assured it would be done. Swam until 3:30 then went to check the room-still not done. Ask again and say please do it now! Sure, they’ll call housekeeping. Got changed at 4-still no toilet paper. Left for supper and when we got back the beds had been haphazardly made and there was toilet paper! The hotel would have been nice back when it was built. There hasn’t been enough upkeep and maintenance done over the years. We had a loft room which was old but clean. The upstairs was always hot and stuffy-even with the air conditioner on-it just isn’t adequate to reach the space. The elevator is always out of order, so we used the back staircase which smelt of a mix of mold, must and perm solution?! Very basic breakfast offered-toast,cereal and waffles. There is no staff at the breakfast area so you’re left moving empty coffee urns yourself or trying the front desk for help-which may or may not come. Probably okay if you just need it for one night-not good if you need any supplies restocked. Customer service isn’t their strong point. The kids enjoyed the pool and waterslide. The outdoor hot-tub is cracked in multiple places, with a rusty broken l

Overall a good stay. Check-in was smooth and efficient. The rooms were clean, though a bit worn and could use some updates. We used the elevator due to our luggage, but the door timing was off—it closed too quickly and nearly shut on us. The onsite restaurant was a highlight; the pizza was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was just okay—nothing special, but it did the job.

The elevator requires replacement due to its age and malfunctioning. My children and I were trapped inside for a couple of minutes, and it was a truly frightening experience. None of the buttons functioned, and there was no response when I activated the emergency button. I was on the verge of contacting emergency services(911) when the doors finally opened. We have avoided using the elevator since that incident. I brought this matter to the attention of the staff during checkout, and they assured me they would relay my concerns to the manager. That elevator should not be in service, as it poses a significant safety risk.

Our stay was just my daughter and I for one night. The property was well kept, sheets were amazingly comfortable. Staff was attentive to needs and all of our silly questions. On-site restaurant was yummy and their staff was also great. This was a first trip to Fernie, we will be back and most certainly will be booking our stay with the Stanford.

We stayed in one of the condos. While I thought the hotel was fine, and the front desk lady was wonderful, the condo could have been in better shape. It was very, very, hot, and it was difficult to cool the place down. The fridge also broke and leaked a bunch of water all over our food and floor that we had to clean up. They came and fixed it while we were gone, but I think they just turned the fridge up so everything froze. Several of our fridge items froze after that, and I doubt it actually got fixed. There was only one small dish towel to use with the kitchen and the oven was missing its handle. Kids absolutely loved the water slide though. That made it all worth it.
