Historic property in the heart of Charlottetown, close to everything, and right across from the Basillica. The staff was very friendly, helpful, profeasional, and available at all times. Breakfast was delicious and the fresh-baked cookies eqch evening were a lovely treat. The beds wefe comfortable and the heqted floor in the bathroom was a great suprise. Highly recommend!

I travelled for work for 35 years. This is possibly the best managed hotel where I have stayed. The entire staff is outstanding. Heated bathroom floors, parking on site at no cost, free continental breakfast and happy hour and fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. Just a great experience.

Great character close to the harbor

Pros: It's historical feel and location.o
Cons: Attention to detail regarding what should be normal day to day maintenance
Location: Great location close to nearly everything.
This is a wonderful old hotel that has had much effort and expense put into it. The hotel has a B&B sort of feel and the staff is just wonderful. The staff are among the most friendly and helpful I have ever encountered.The initial impact is certainly WOW but slides a bit in terms of facilities after the initial first look. There are several historical houses that make up the hotel allmost all physically attached so there is a small walk, 45 seconds or so to the main building. The hotel owns 22 buildings that make up the hotel. Some of the units are long term and some are very high priced. Our room was an average room, queen size bed and some of the usual stuff. The AC unit was portable and did the job however it took up valuable space in the room. The hotel, like many others, ask you to reuse linens but give you one towel rack, no kidding! Beyond that it was ok. I felt that attention to detail away from the main building was lacking. Paint chips in doorways, debris in the yard and things I would not expect at a hotel of this caliper. My previous job demanded this kind of attention so I can be a little unforgiving but someone should be taking a daily objective walk through the facilities attention to detail is the job. As an aside the owners also own six or so restaurants close by and we noticed a push from the staff to get you to eat at one of them. All this said we enjoyed our stay and have few regrets on our hotel choice.

Superb hotel experience

The Great George is a delightful hotel located an easy walk from the Charlottetown waterfront. The front desk personnel are knowledgeable and helpful, and the room was beautifully appointed with all the amenities one could want. Since this is in a historic district, you might have to park a little ways away, and do plan to lift your luggage up a few steps to the elegant lobby.
