Unique property with local charm
Sadly we could only stay 3 nights. This property is close enough to the places tourists want to be in Chania but blessedly far from the chaos. The 20-minute walk along the coast to the Vinetian Harbor may seem far, but after spending the afternoon there, you'll be glad for this escape. (Cab ride is 8). The neighborhood is mid-revitalzation with new and refurbished properties near some falling down. You are meters away from a shallow rocky beach and locals jump from lava rocks nearby for a deeper plunge. Further down the shore is a gorgeous local swimming hole protected by natural rock formations. 7 minute walk away from the new state of the art archeology museum. There was an excellent new seafood restaurant down the street. Our host anxiously shared information about the area with us upon arrival. Plus he generously played a few songs on his lyre as he talked about the importance of the instrument and Greek mythology. It was magical and special. The house is immaculately restored with nice details. It is comfortable, but it is small. 4 may feel crowded with luggage. 3 might be best. What a great find and perfect for what we wanted. Highly recommend
