This is a review on the inside vs outside of this cottage. No complaints regarding the inside. It was just fine and comfortable with our dog. However, if I had realized the situation with the road out front and parking along the street I would not have rented it. The dock in back was very unnerving and I would not let my dog back there in any circumstance. The lack of gates and railings seemed dangerous to me. The location of this property in relation to walking distance to shops and restaurants was nice. The road out front is the major highway into the island. There is a lot of loud traffic including pickups and cars and motorcycles which roar at speeds well beyond the speed limit. We did not find the location relaxing because of the noise and traffic.

We had a great stay in Rains Cottage. It was clean, comfortable and perfectly equipped for my husband, our 14 year old son, our dog and I. The location was great. The only negatives we found are the sometimes busy road it’s on and that you couldn’t really fish from the dock. Hubby and son are avid fisherman.

The Rains Cottage was very nice and clean. We enjoyed the view of the water and watching the oyster beds appear at low tide and the water birds. So glad we brought our binoculars. We had a very relaxing trip.

Beautiful cottage and an awesome town! Our host is always very considerate and were always available to answer any questions we had! Provisions at the cottage were perfect! The bed is super cozy, the dinette is adorable, the deck is wonderful to chill out on and read (when its not too hot) and the sunrise view from the back porch is amazingly beautiful! Evening walks to and around downtown were the best! I will always give this place 5 stars! Ths ONLY quam that i had was the showerhead. It did the job but please replace it. This is our second stay here and it has become an annual vacation. We will be coming again for sure next year!

Had a wonderful time

To stay, was very enjoyable the view out the back was very nice. The place was clean. The only thing was I had a little bit of a hard time with the parking in the front. I have a big truck and there’s not a lot of parking other than that the stay in the property we are very nice thank you again.

Pure slice of heaven.

We absolutely enjoyed our first stay in Cedar Key at Rains Cottage. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed and then some. The location was within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. To be able to watch the sun rise and sun set with just a small walk from the cottage was breath taking. We look forward to returning to Cedar Key/ Rains Cottage sooner than later.

Cozy getaway

My wife and I came to Cedar Key for a quick trip away from home. Rains Cottage is a wonderful property. It is probably one of the nicest rentals we have been to. The local people were very friendly. There were lots of choices for restaurants. We found a great Tiki Bar up the road which was a lot of fun. We loved staying at Rains Cottage and would stay here again.

Cozy little bungalow in a great location!

This is the perfect place for a Cedar Key getaway. Close to everything but very quiet and it feels like you have the whole back bayou to yourself when you’re relaxing on the dock. The birdwatching was fantastic.

Weekend getaway

We had never been to cedar Kay and would call it a nice little drinking village. No good places to swim or fish but had fun riding the golf cart and visiting the shops and bars. The house was so cute and perfect for a couple. View was great but the water was too shallow and muddy for fishing. Overall we had a great time.
