This was a retirement trip for my husband, and we chose this home because of its lakefront location. Unfortunately, due to the severe drought conditions at Lake Norman, we were not able to fully enjoy the lake during our stay. The water level in the cove was very low, which limited how far we could kayak, and the receding water also made fishing from the dock less enjoyable than we had anticipated. The host did let us know about the drought a few days before our arrival, although we wish we had known sooner so we could better adjust our expectations and plans. Although we were unable to enjoy the lake as much as we had hoped, we appreciated that there were still many things to see and do around Lake Norman. The house itself was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. This house is perfect for two families to stay. It has two fully outfitted kitchens. One upstairs and one downstairs. We especially enjoyed the screened-in porch, which was a relaxing place to sit without worrying about our dogs getting out. The host also informed us before arrival that the neighbors’ dogs roam freely, so we had to keep our dogs leashed outside for safety. We did not have any direct issues with the dogs, though they frequently wandered into the yard. Overall, we appreciated the peaceful setting and the opportunity to celebrate such a special occasion.
