Great small but private location
We really enjoy this cozy house with a great hot tub and location. Our only issue this time was a really strong and unpleasant smell between the dining table and stereo bookshelf at the front of the house. Could be a dead animal under the house, but not sure.

Cozy cabin in the woods
Our family enjoyed a quick weekend getaway at the Squirrel’s Nest! The location right next to the forest trail was perfect for a walk in the woods with our pup, followed by a relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub, and family games at the kitchen table. The kitchen was well-equipped and everything well organized and labeled. Quick drive to town yet tucked away next to the woods. We’ll be back!

Great location for hiking and sledding, not so great if you don’t like stepping in poo
We arrived at this little cabin after dark but house seemed cute and taken care of. Woke after a hard nights sleep (literally, mattresses were rock hard), and quickly shook it off once we realized how close we were to the trailhead, awesome! Got kids dressed for sledding and sent them out to play in the snow on the expansive front yard. After coffee I walked out to join them and was horrified to see them rolling and falling and stepping in dozens of un picked up (and now half hidden in snow) piles of dog poo!! Gross and highly annoying! Cleaned up the kids and decided to head up the trail for sledding, now fully aware there is tons of dog activity, but I have honestly never seen as much dog poo as there was around this house and on this trailhead. Every 3 steps revealed a new pile to dodge, and my 4 and 6 year old and 65yr old mom are not nearly as accomplished at dodging as me. Gross and frustrating! It wasn’t until we walked waaaay off the trail that it improved, with dog poo only found 10-15 steps apart. A couple days of observing revealed exactly what was going on. Neighbors and visitors to the trailhead let their dogs off leash immediately to roam this houses yard, and not one of them were paying attention to what their pets were doing while roaming. As a dog lover/owner myself I was more than appalled at the blatant rudeness. I never allow my dog onto a property of a person I don’t know, much less urinate and defecate on any surface (a couple dogs nailed my car even). Unknown dogs were bounding up onto the porch of the house, scratching at the door, and pretty much doing whatever they wanted while their owners unloaded gear from their car. New hikers would come and go every 30-60 min, and 80% of them had dogs. We were there for only 2 days and in that time I must have seen at least 30 dogs a day poop or pee on this houses property. I’m not sure if this is a known issue, but that amount of dog waste has to be apparent to anyone visiting or taking care of this property. Bottom line, cute cabin, nice hot tub, good location, horrible trail visitors and neighbors. Disappointed and won’t be booking again.

Nice home with good hiking!
The home was a bit more exposed than we expected, with the beginning of the trailhead basically right outside there was a pretty constant flow of people walking by. The hot tub is literally on the front porch, but still feels private after dark. Overall was a nice place to stay with the dogs, with lots of hiking through the woods and things to explore. There's also great proximity to a few smaller towns with shops, and access to the lake.
