Wonderful hotel.

Booked the royal for a one night stay and couldn’t have had a better experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make it a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and beautifully clean. I had a great nights sleep and will definitely book again.

I would first like to point out that the staff was kind and incredibly accommodating while planning our stay and that in an old building things are bound to be old.i didn’t however expect it to be so run down… their is a scent of old chewed up bubble gum that fills the halls. We were not able to get any bottled water and no snacks were available. The bigger thing I would like to point out, and this isn’t the hotels fault but the area is very run down, dirty and in some spots felt unsafe. I only say this because as an American planning a trip there I don’t think Cardiff was acutely described in my research. The he biggest thing is the floors in our room were very sticky and we didn’t feel comfortable walking in them barefoot… we also had only plastic cups in the room and they seemed used. We ended up leaving a night early and eating the cost.

The hotel from outside seemed old, but it's different from inside. Nice and welcoming hotel. The hotel and the room were clean, organized and comfortable, and the breakfast dining area was very nice. The hotel is in great location in the heart of the city, but unfortunately that comes with a noise problem. Bars around the hotel had loud music very late, and isolation between rooms was not good. I really needed to make a local phone call, but I couldn't. And the staff wouldn't assist me with that.

Great central location. have to walk down steps to take the elevator to the 2nd floor or 3 flights of stairs. separate elevator for rooms. if early they charge 4 pounds per bag to hold. nice sized rooms.

Hotel stunning got to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to reception lift is available only issue I had because I booked through hotel.com they charge you 20:00 per hour for late check out also there is a charge to leave your baggage if you want to walk around Cardiff after check out which I never pay for in all hotels I stay with hotel.com but hotel stunning staff fab great location

The staff was very friendly and the room was large with a very comfortable bed. The only thing to be aware of is the odd design of this older hotel that requires you to go down (depending on what side of the building you enter) to take the lifts to go up, otherwise you climb 50 steps with luggage in tow to get to the 2nd floor reception.

This hotel presents well in pictures. It is not. There is no parking within a few miles. The staff is committed to being as pleasantly Unhelpful as possible. The floors creak. There are stairs Everywhere. The rooms are laid out like a rabbit warren. Taking the lift to our third floor room, there were still two small flights of stairs. If you don't have prob with stairs and no luggage, no prob. We did. The room door didn't fully shut by itself. There were no outlets in the room. If you are a young person with nothing but a backpack and your own power for your phone, stay here. Otherwise Avoid it

We stayed for two nights and it was okay. The beds were hard and the pillows equally hard. Sore neck in the morning. Being in the centre of it all in Cardiff was the plus. Access to the hotel was a royal pain. In through the back to the lift or a large set of stairs from the front. A bit of a maze.
