It’s not on the waterfront

Our stay at the hotel was amicable, unfortunately when booking it states that it is on the waterfront - what is not noted is that it is quite far from the waterfront and there is not an easy access route for driving or walking to the waterfront. With a young family the rooms were adjoining, however breakfast was interesting. As a family of 5 it’s not great when servers communicate very openly to one another about a table being free or not, this could have been done in a different manner, to top it off we got give a squished table and 5 sitting as it was convenient instead. At least a dish was broken by a server daily and it is not child friendly. Many times an order repeated for a drink, or forgotten and reminded, the fruit was semi frozen and as a bonus the cereal was stale. There is no mention of room service in the room, until you walk down and ask and when the food did come it was cold. Our biggest issue was the walk to the waterfront, coming back after 8pm - you have to walk around not along the canal which is already a 20/25 min walk. The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly and the room was always clean.

Wonderful hotel, but location is remote

Stayed for 3 nights in June 2025 prior to a group tour. The hotel is great and all of the staff members were lovely and kind! The only negative about this hotel is that it is essentially at the end of a dead end road (there is a security fence surrounding the hotel), so you have to follow the road back out to the main street to go anywhere. That being said, we walked around quite a bit, even at night, and found the area very safe.

Great hotel and faultless service

Not being right on the waterfront - and having to Uber there and back at night, rather than walk - is a little frustrating, but other than that this hotel was perfect. Rooms are huge and tasteful, everything is spotlessly clean and the staff are exceptional - pleasant and efficient service at every encounter.

We had a semi long stay at the AC, it was wonderful, from the reception staff, to the tour advisors to the in room dining, to the morning breakfast staff, everyone is just wonderful and attentive. They are super polite and caring and helpful beyond normal. Would 100% recommend

Great hotel, while a little away from waterfront, free ferry and hotel shuttle, both easy to use. Great breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. We had a corner room, facing lions head, lots of room which we loved. They did try to 'upgrade' us to a suite facing the dock but another customer behind us said don't do it, noisy through night and hard to then move from another room. Good tip from their bad experience for us all!!

This property is listed as a VC Waterfront hotel. However, it is a 15-20 minute walk to the central VC Waterfront district. It's a nice walk, but the gate to the walkway closed at 8:00 pm so be mindful of this when venturing out. Breakfast was nice and convenient.

While the location looks like it's nearby to attractions, it's actually all fenced off. It becomes a 30 min walk to get to the waterfront. After that 1.5 mile walk, would appreciate water in the lobby. Otherwise, stay was good. Excellent breakfast selection. Decent gym. Rooms spacious and clean. Would stay in the actual waterfront area next time

Our first time staying in South Africa and at the AC by Marriott and we were not at all disappointed. We stayed in a super spacious and cosy room with a gorgeous view of Table Mountain and the surrounding areas of Cape Town. Being right by the waterfront and a 10 minute walk from the Central Business District (CBD) was perfect for us and our adventures. This hotel also has a complementary shuttle service to the V&A Waterfront via bus and riverboat. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and were always available to resolve any issues we might have had (not that we did). A special thanks to Asithanoile, Asekho, Jesse, Shai - Lynne, Martha and David for their consistent help and kindness. Breakfast was delicious every morning, with a wide range of food to choose from at the buffet, as well as a menu to order from as well. We were met with an abundance of smiles from Onelisiwe, Asaniko, Lukanyo and Obi, which filled our mornings with joy. Dinner was just as much of a pleasure to walk into and despite our attempts, we couldn't stay away! Nothing else we tried in Cape Town quite compared, the food was so rich in flavour and the service was unmatched. We loved seeing Tandile, Sinoxlo and Bradley and having a laugh.
