We stayed at this charming modernized farmhouse for 2 weeks. The house is between a stand of trees and farmland, and you can see the big open sky, which was great at sunset. No road noise. The house comes fully teched (“hey Google“) with fast wifi, and was very clean. Little touches – high quality bedding, a gameroom, a record collection, a workspace, were all welcome. The house is close to 3 nature areas – Magothy, where the trail winds ends up on the wide open coast, the Refuge which has some great features, and Kiptopeke with its bayside trail (Brown Pelican). There’s also a path nearby. We had bikes dropped off/picked up (Poseidon Watersports). Cape Charles is 10 mins up the highway, with some good restaurants (the hosts were fantastic with their recommendations), a lovely bayside beach – never a problem parking adjacent to the beach, or finding a spot on the beach, regardless of the day or time. You can go for the whole day or an hour. Farther up you've got Onancock with some restaurants (and awesome bakery), Island House Restaurant on the coast-side and other finds. And you’re really close to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge where you enjoy the views for 20 minutes and end up in Virginia Beach where you can do the boardwalk, Trader Joes, etc. and when you’re all done you get to go back to peace and quiet. I miss it already. The hosts were great with us, answered many questions and really wanted us to have a good vacation. I wish them well. Wonderful stay.
