Arrival: We arrived around Noon and were advised that Check In was 2.00. However if we wanted an early check in the cost was an extra $60!!! The gentleman at Reception must have had a bad day as his attitude was not one that you would expect at a hotel arrival. Not rude but not at all welcoming. We left our bags and came back around 3.30 to check in. The next gentleman was much more receptive. The standard room on the 1st floor was one of the smallest I have encountered. $175 for one night!!! Would we return? I doubt it.

The staff were good property is adequate room way to small for the fee charged. On check in the staff member was helpful however prior to arrival I received a text saying “We are excited to welcome you to K2 Cairns Queens Court! As part of your arrival process, please complete your pre-check-in at the following link: The pre-check-in is a MANDATORY step prior to your arrival Not an easy process when you are driving the Bruce Hwy at 100kph so I got the passenger to read it out and do it for me, but No they require a signature, so forget that! Eventually we go to the motel only to be told it’s not mandatory. To the management thanks for the extra stress. On check out the staff members I dealt with were excellent. Do I see myself going back, Probably not!

This is my second time staying here, and I’d gladly stay here again. The place is nice for the price, has good amenities, and is within easy walking distance of the seashore, restaurants, and shops. There was an unknown issue that caused my key to be deactivated, and when I returned to the hotel at around 10 PM I found myself locked out. The emergency phone outside of hotel reception allowed me to contact someone after hours, and I was able to get into my room within about ten minutes. While I dislike the keycard error, the staff handled it promptly and courteously. Issues can happen, and I really appreciate it when the staff are able to promptly and graciously address any problems.

Had an issue when leaving the hotel, when I returned to my room after putting my suitcase in my car I could not get the door to open. Made contact with the night manage who knew that door could be fiddley and your just have to wiggle it. Turned out to get the door to open I had to turn the handle upward. Not a good feeling when you have to catch a flight and the last of your belongings are still inside your hotel room.

Positives: The room is a good size and the balcony was great. Friendly staff. Close to the airport and only a 20 minute walk to town and the train station. Negatives: It's loud if your room is near the road (cars and trucks). We weren't allowed to check out even 15 minutes later so our laundry could finish, and we had to finish packing in the pool area outside. There should be some flexibility, especially since there are limited hours for the laundry room. Staff at the reception is only available until 8:00 p.m. which is very odd for a hotel and there is a fee to pay if you call after hours. The power on our floor went out in the evening, and we were just told someone would come and fix it soon, but it was several hours without power, which was very inconvenient. The bathroom fan was full of dust and could use a cleaning.
