Great location

Fantastic location on isolated beach - falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves was a memorable experience. However, you have to be a flexibly-minded traveller to enjoy this "hotel" as the rooms are basic and will not be to everyone's liking. The large family room is the pick - the others are a bit dark. Organisation is a not a strong point - the staff were not expecting us at check-in, and also did not know at check-out that we had paid fully up-front. Breakfast on day 1 did not arrive! "Natura Cabana" next door serves excellent food and also has rooms.

Bohio del Playa is an undiscovered gem and if it is up to those in the know, we'd rather keep it this way! This cabana-style boutique hotel is really the closest to "camping on the beach" idea one might have, with the added luxury of beautifully and ecologically designed bath/shower, large refrigerator in each cabana and great hospitality from the friendly staff who after a few days feel like a family. Bohio de playa is for the adventurous type of traveler who will spend the majority of their time outdoors enjoying surfing and relaxed lifestyle. Stay away if you have the expectations of a standard all-you can eat conventional hotel. We were a family of five with three teenage children and we had unforgettable time. Make sure you visit the nearby towns of Cabarete and Sosua for some great food and local flair.
