The Shilla is a luxurious stay and the rooms are fantastic and facilities looked great albeit I did not get a chance to use them during my stay. The downside is the need to pay to access the outdoor pool and how there were several membership areas that meant guests did not have access to.

This property isnโ€™t inline with western values or customer service. Yes they bow, yes they smile but anything else is based on if you paid for it. For example, the outdoor pool isnโ€™t included in the room. Even when you pay $300 for a family day pass it literally doesnโ€™t include anything except the actual entry. Not even water is included. At the pool youโ€™re not allowed to dive, jump, make a hand stand or anything kids enjoy. We reserved a Deluxe Business Suite for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) however the room only had one (1) bed. They asked us to pay for an extra bed. We slept 4 people in three beds. This suppose to be a 5 star hotel but the service is more inline with a 2star service. The food in the hotel is outrageously expensive and not worth it. Weโ€™re used to a more elevated service but for Seoul itโ€™s considered the absolute best.

You would think for the money you pay and the attention to luxury the hotel is known for that they would have REAL beds. Our king size bed was nothing more than a giant box spring and a 2 inch mattress pad. HARD AS A ROCK!

The Shilla Seoul was a wonderful hotel. The service was excellent and it is gorgeous. The staff was at your service. The food was amazing. I highly recommend it.

5 Star Service with a capital S!

We have stayed at many five-star hotels around the world, but the service at The Shilla is truly in a league of its own. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and every staff member I encountered โ€“ including the valet attendants and service car drivers โ€“ spoke English to a high standard. If I had to identify a fault, which is difficult, it would be the use of individually plastic-wrapped cups in the rooms, which are replaced daily during servicing. This seemed excessive and not particularly environmentally friendly. Additionally, upon check-in, I was informed that the gym and indoor pool would be closed for renovations throughout the entirety of our stay. I clarified this several times, as it seemed unusual given that we had not been notified beforehand. However, I kept seeing guests dressed in gym attire in the lifts. On the fourth day, I enquired directly at the gym and was told that it had only been closed for one day. Unfortunately, due to this misinformation, we missed the opportunity to use the gym and indoor pool, which was disappointing.
