Disappointing and cheap feeling

For a 4 star hotel, this was very disappointing. The rooms felt like I was sleeping in Ikea - cheap wooden boards, holes near the doors, echoey and just not comfortable. The “painting” on the wall was incredibly creepy. The electronic room features (meant to be “smart) meant simple tasks like lifting the room blinds or controlling the lights was a chore (it took me 20mins to figure out the system). The room was very dusty, and there was no noise isolation, so you could hear noise in both the corridor and outside. The pool, while pleasant, has to be pre booked and this is not mentioned in the hotel description, so I couldn’t actually use it until I checked out (and there were no dedicated changing facilities). Additionally, the restaurant was fully booked - so having booked the hotel hoping to use the facilities, I was unable to use them. Very disappointing - stay elsewhere.

Guest relation manager was racist, very rude. Checked in early, paid extra for the room, fridge wasn't working, no tea, sugar or coffee in the room and toiletries, wifi also wouldn't work.as advertise. Told front desk waited an hour no one show. Called guest services the person I spoke was very nice and said someone would come up and bring these. The maintenance guy came up. Said he can't fix the fridge and left. I then contacted guest services to complained, I asked to speak to the manager who was very rude and aggressive on the phone and told me well at least you have a bed to sleep on and that I don't have anything to complain about it I'm not happy go somewhere else and when I said that's very rude, what's your name she hang up the phone. I was very taking aback to be spoken to like that and for someone to be so rude and blatantly racist, tell me to go back to where I came from. The hotel itself is very nice and the rest of the staff was lovely.

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at the Cardo Hotel Brussels. The staff were so kind and helpful, which really made the experience stand out. The design of the hotel is gorgeous – modern, stylish, and full of personality. I loved the gym too; it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel, with plenty of space and great equipment. The location is perfect for getting around the city, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of fresh and tasty options. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The windows don't open to the outside, There are a lot of noises in the hallway mostly from cleaners dropping and sliding things and talking loud Smelly elevators and the garbage bins in the hallway were full of garbages. The coffee stock was not refreshed. Unnecessary glass doors on the shelf making inconvenient access The position of the TV is hazardous at night time.

As a tea drinking Brit, please have milk and tea black bags in the room to go with the kettle. And please, Please, PLEASE put mugs or cups with handles in the room - the handle-less cups may look good but it’s impossible to hold anything hot. I’m surprised the hotel has not been sued for a scalding incident. Nb. The conference areas and restaurant have mugs with handles so why not the rooms - it makes no sense!!

This hotel is very modern. I love the automated window shades and the room is very spacious for a European hotel. Walkable to most tourist spots, specially to The Grand Place. I just didn’t feel very safe specially at night as it is close to a main metro station and a lot of sketchy people hanging around outside the hotel. But overall I really like this hotel.
