Was in town for a wedding and waited too long to book a hotel downtown — the Clipper Ship Inn was in a less convenient location but was SOOOO much more reasonably priced. It did generally have that rustic motor court feel (it's not particularly luxurious) but it was totally serviceable for a night or two, and it's only a 20 minute walk from downtown. It also wasn't terribly difficult to get a Lyft/Uber there, though apparently the location is JUST confusing enough that drivers usually had to kind of circle in on it, meaning it didn't save much time over walking.

I booked this room for someone else, and did not stay there myself. No complaints.

Spent 2 nights and visited Salem. Rooms were clean and recently redone. One of the biggest rooms I have ever stayed in with a separate living room with couch, fridge, microwave, keurig, and separate sink. Staff was very helpful in suggesting delivery from Beverlys Pizza( fantastic) and taxi to downtown Salem $5 (senior citizen) really could have walked downtown but it is August and humidity was high.

Over all it was a good hotel very clean and a little older but in great shape. The reason I marked it low on was I had issues with the A/C. It just didn't get cool enough for us. The management did what it could and moved us to different rooms but they still didn't work well for me. If it would have been 10 -15 degrees warmer out I would have had to check out.
