Ty Fferam Bailey is an 18th-century farmhouse in Bodorgan, set in an acre of private grounds with views across to Snowdonia. It sleeps 14 across seven bedrooms and is made for family gatherings and groups of friends. The rooms are large and there’s more than one place to sit, so everyone can spread out and still end up round the same table. Two well-behaved pets are welcome, and dogs will have a field day.
You arrive through the utility room, which has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a separate toilet, handy for wet coats and sandy things after a day on the beach. From there you step straight into the open country kitchen, where a central farmhouse table is made for casual meals and conversation, then on into a large hallway that leads to the other downstairs rooms.
To the right is a spacious twin bedroom, ideal for anyone who finds stairs difficult. Opposite is the dining room, where the table seats 14, great for relaxed family meals and games evenings. Go through and up two steps and you’re in the main living room, bright and spacious, with several comfy sofas and armchairs, a large wood-burning stove for cooler evenings and French doors out to the front garden. Back in the hallway you’ll find a cosy snug with its own wood burner, where the children can have a space of their own, and the period conservatory, a lovely spot for a cup of tea and the view whatever the weather.
Two staircases lead up, one from the kitchen and one from the hallway, so a full house can come and go easily. Across the first and second floors there are six more bedrooms: two king-size, a double with an en-suite shower room, and three twins. Two family bathrooms look after everyone else, and there’s a downstairs toilet too. A door on the upstairs landing opens onto a secret staircase up to a large twin bedroom in the converted attic, perfect for older children and teenagers who want their own space.
Outside, the enclosed cottage garden is fenced and bordered with shrubs, so it’s private and secure. There’s a patio, a gas BBQ and a bench table for eating outdoors, and a flat lawn for the children to play on. The beach is only 2.5 miles away, with Aberffraw five minutes from the house and Rhosneigr ten.
The Neighborhood:
Bodorgan (said: boh-DOR-gan) is a quiet hamlet in southwest Anglesey, wrapped in rolling farmland and just 3 miles from the coast.
It's got royal history too. Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton chose to live at Bodorgan Hall during his time stationed at RAF Valley, built in 1782, it remains the largest country house and estate on Anglesey. Royal commentators have said the pair saw the island as a 'refuge,' and it's easy to see why once you're here.
Nearby beaches like Aberffraw (5 mins) and Rhosneigr (10 mins) cover swimming, kitesurfing and paddleboarding, while nature lovers can head to Newborough Forest, Llanddwyn Island, or walk the Malltraeth Cob. Bodorgan has its own railway station and easy access to Bethel, Llangadwaladr and Hermon, plus a small shop for essentials — a genuinely peaceful base in Anglesey's countryside.
Getting Around:
A car is essential in Bodorgan. The train station is nearby with limited service, but on-site parking makes it easy to explore all of Anglesey by road.
