The Riu Plaza Hotel in Berlin was a major letdown from start to finish. Construction everywhere, a cold and uninviting lobby, and cheap‑feeling fixtures made the property feel more like a budget hotel than anything approaching four stars. The hallways were dirty, with crumbs and stains that made me question when they last bothered to vacuum. My suite didn’t improve things. The water closet smelled like raw sewage — truly unbearable — and even after reporting it, nothing was done. The mattress felt more like a medevil torture device, and the climate control had a mind of its own both contributing to some of the worst sleep i can remember having. Staff weren’t rude, but they were far from helpful, especially when I asked for recommendations. Overall, the hotel felt neglected, cheaply furnished, and completely misrepresented by its rating. I was relieved to leave after three nights.

Where the hotel is situated was ideal for a lot of sightseeing. Breakfast and snack meals in the evening are excellent. Friendly staff who made our stay great. Cleanliness throughout. Nothing was too much trouble.

I had a great stay at the Riu hotel. The staff was super kind and it had such a beautiful layout. My only issue is that they do not have a microwave on the premises. I wanted to heat up some food, I had from earlier and was told by the front desk that they are not allowed to heat up food for guest & don’t have a microwave around. I don’t see the point of having a refrigerator in your room if there’s nothing around to heat up your leftovers. Also, The rooms only come with one little thin pillow per bed. I did sleep good at night. But if you want to lay in bed for a bit and chill, the pillow becomes an issue. Other than that, everything else about the hotel is great. Convenient location within a 5-10 minute walking distance to stores and restaurants.
