2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Cleanliness
Avoid this property!
Location: The house is an hour drive away from Palermo city center. It requires navigation through winding mountain roads that are barely wide enough for one car to pass through with no GPS reception. It is inconvenient to reach even in fair weather, and downright dangerous in the dark or rain.
Property and Facilities: The house is much older and in worse shape than the photos suggest. The kitchen is antique and cramped, and many of the appliances do not work properly. We lost power multiple times each day, and simply resetting the fuse box did not always work. The bedrooms and living room felt dingy.
Owner/Manager: We were given a rushed walkthrough of the house and its system upon check in. The security deposit is a large sum that must be paid IN CASH. A week after check out, the manager started hitting us with a bunch of claims for damaged items that were already in rough shape to begin with, and missing trivial items (towels and cups) which no one in our group had taken. It seems that they're using the rental business to cover the cost of renovating the old house.
Overall, I would advise you to stay elsewhere in your visit to Sicilia. Our other friends found much better accommodations in a more accessible location. This was one of the low points in an otherwise fantastic trip. If everything above is not convincing enough, also know that the owners also keep 2 emaciated horses (which escaped into the neighbors yard and caused a fight), a dog kept in a tiny pen, and feral cats on the property.
