Otter Space | Hood Canal Waterfront Vacation Home
Bring the whole family to the water’s edge and experience true Hood Canal waterfront living. Enjoy sweeping views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains from nearly every room, with direct access to your own private beach where you can harvest oysters (conditions permitting).
Start your mornings with cappuccinos from the Breville espresso machine, then cook breakfast on the outdoor griddle while taking in the fresh salt air. Spend your days kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking nearby Olympic National Park, or simply relaxing by the water. Or work remote with gig-speed internet. Enjoy the game room including shuffle board table, and immerse yourself with the Sonos sound system.
The home offers private parking with EV charger and room for a boat trailer, and a public boat launch is less than 2 miles away. Olympic National Park, Hoodsport, and Lake Cushman are all within an easy drive. The property is fully fenced and dog-friendly, with thoughtfully updated furnishings, original artwork, and all the comforts of a relaxing waterfront getaway.
Available starting mid-August. Additional photos coming soon as we complete the final touches! Welcome to the House in Otter Space
We’re so glad you’re here! We hope you’ll slow down, enjoy Hood Canal, and make yourself at home. Please help us keep the house in great shape by following these simple house rules.
Quiet Hours * Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. * Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep outdoor conversations and music at a reasonable volume.
Occupancy * Only registered guests may stay overnight. * No parties, events, or large gatherings without prior approval.
Parking * Please park only in parking areas designated in your welcome email. * Boat trailer parking permitted with prior approval.
No Smoking * Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the cabin. * If smoking outdoors, please dispose of cigarette butts safely and completely.
Pets * Conscientious pets are permitted with applicable pet fee. * Please keep pets off furniture and clean up after them. You are responsible for any pet-related damage.
Waterfront Safety * The tidal area can be slippery and sharp, especially during low tide. * Children should be supervised at all times near the water. * Guests use the waterfront areas and watercraft at their own risk. * Kayaks and paddle boards may be used. We recommend use at high tide to facilitate water entry and exit. If using at low tide when the oyster bed is exposed, please lift watercraft over the tidelands and take care to avoid personal injury--the oyster bed is sharp. * Please do not drag paddle boards on the tidelands--they will tear on oyster shells and barnacles. * Return and store watercraft after use. * Keep waterfront gate closed when not in use.
Fire & Griddle Safety * The Solo fire pit may be used at a safe distance from the house. No beach fires--only inside the Solo. * Never leave the griddle unattended when in use. * Shut off the propane tanks (griddle and outdoor heater) when not in use. * A fire extinguisher can be found in the kitchen.
Wildlife & Fishing/Harvest You’re sharing this special place with eagles, seals, otters, loons, and many other native animals.
* Please enjoy wildlife from a distance. * Do not feed wildlife. * Secure food and dispose of trash properly. * Oyster harvest is permitted for personal consumption on-site only. Check in with shellfish advisories from Washington Department of Natural Resources before harvesting (natural algae blooms can create toxins in local shellfish). * Fishing and crab harvest is permitted only in accordance with all applicable state restrictions and permit requirements.
Kitchen * Please load and start dishwater before checkout and leave any hand-washed dishes in the dry rack. Do not return wet dishes to the cabinets. * Wipe up spills promptly. * Help us keep seafood odors under control by sealing shells and fish scraps before placing them in outdoor trash.
Hot Tub * Shower before entering when possible. * We recommend brushing any debris off the cover before opening, to keep debris out of the tub. * No glass in or around the hot tub. * Please replace the cover after each use. * Do not adjust water chemistry. * If you notice anything unusual, let us know right away.
Septic System Our cabin is on a septic system. Please flush only toilet paper. Do not flush wipes (even “flushable” ones), paper towels, feminine products, diapers, or other items.
Respect the Home * Please don’t rearrange furniture. * Report any damage or maintenance concerns as soon as possible so we can address them quickly. * Lock doors and close windows whenever you leave.
Check-Out Before you head home, we appreciate your help with a few simple tasks: * Place used towels and anything wet in the shower. * Turn off lights and small appliances. * Lock all doors and windows. * Return any borrowed items to where you found them.
Most importantly, relax, enjoy the water, and have a wonderful stay. We hope you’ll leave with great memories—and come back to visit Otter Space again!
