Another brilliant stay.

We highly recommend this well kept and well equipped accommodative in a lovely rural setting. The owners are outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. Their willingness to assist a wheelchair user is very much appreciated.

This property is ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The downstairs bedroom with en-suite wet room is excellent. Lovely and clean. Cream tea on arrival was added bonus

Amazing place

The place was a wonderful and cosy cottage. It was accessible for my stepdad, the upstairs has two big and comfy bedrooms and a lovely shower. My favourite things were the underfloor heating and the amazing log burner. It has everything you need, is a good location near barnstaple and such a relaxing feel, the views are great . The owners were lovely ,thanks for a wonderful holiday my daughter loved it .

Fantastic Cottage

We had a wonderful week at this lovely cottage; it was perfect for my mum with MS and limited mobility using a walker. Facilities are tasteful and not obtrusive and all finished to a high standard. A great rural location with amazing views from the top of the farm but just 10 minutes from Barnstaple and easy to get to all the regional highlights. Wonderful local pub just a mile or so down the road too. Highly recommended, would definitely return.

Amazing stay.

Our stay here was fantastic, it was like home from home. Every little detail thought of. Very comfy beds and sofas. Barney the dog was an added welcome with his morning hellos. We will definitely booking again. Thank you Sue and Tom

Fantastic stay at the Old Piggery

We booked the Old Piggery specifically for a family holiday for our disabled mum who has MS. Everything worked really well considering my mum has very poor mobility. Hosts were really friendly and very accommodating too. We would definitely return. Many thanks.

Lovely cottage

Beautiful well equipped and comfortable cottage adapted discreetly for wheelchair use. A little misleading regarding the washing machine as it is not in the cottage itself but available if required in a communal area attached to the owner’s house. Very helpful owners on site Well located to visit local attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed cycling the Tarka Trail. Thanks for a lovely stay

Good location and comfortable cottage. Could do with a bigger fridge. No washing machine in the property only access to owners washing machine.

Family break

We were very lucky with the weather and thoroughly enough our week. I am in a wheelchair and we had young baby , as well as a dog. So it was a good test of the old piggery and it passed with flying colours.

Chosen more for availability - possibly would have chosen somewhere not as rural. A lovely place and nice break with the hosts being welcoming and helpful. Nice touch leaving a message and cream tea!

lovely cottage for a short stay

Lovely cottage, extremely clean, well equipped, ample room for 6 adults comfortably including garden furniture. Very pleasant stay. It is on the road with more traffic than expected but did not disturb at night. Although it is a dog friendly cottage, needed to drive for dog walks so went out everyday as did not find much suitable directly from the cottage.

The Old Piggery was a lovely converted accessible cottage for our family holiday. We take a lot of equipment for our disabled teenage daughter, this worked well . A very lovely holiday apart from good old British weather.

A weekend away with family

We had another wonderful weekend away at The Piggery, this was our second visit. The facilities are great just what we need for all the family members, ie a ground floor bedroom with an ensuite wet room with hand rails etc and separate bedrooms and shower room upstairs. With such amazing weather being able to sit outside on the comfy garden chairs was an added bonus. Also the location is great in the countryside, but with Barnstaple quickly and easily accessible with plenty of choice of shops and supermarkets and then also having the beautiful Exmoor on your doorstep as well. We highly recommend this accommodation with the delicious homemade cream tea and milk to welcome you.

So grateful to find this beautiful wheelchair friendly cottage!

We fell in love with this cottage from watching the beautiful video on YouTube and were not disappointed. We were delighted to find a cottage that had all the accessible features we required for my husband's disabilities. It was our first holiday with the challenges of a wheelchair but we experienced no real difficulties staying in this property. It was warm, comfortable, clean and cosy, tastefully decorated throughout. It was useful having the owners, Sue and Tom, next door, on hand to answer questions and respond to requests. They were always friendly and approachable. We hope to come back in better weather and spend some time in the peaceful garden.

super comfortable rental with very good facilities for the disabled

We spent 3 nights at the cottage in September and had a delightful experience. Communication before the stay was very rapid and helpful and sorted out a few anxieties about accessibility. We brought along a family member with MND. He found it easy to get around the spacious and uncluttered downstairs easily. The wet room facilities were great although water temperature was not always very warm. Getting around the space was not a problem. It was lovely to have a calming view to look out on and to be in striking distance of some lovely coastal places, particularly Appledore and Saunterton. We cooked every evening and found a well equipped kitchen.

Our Second Stay at this Wonderful Cottage

This was our second stay at The Old Piggery and once again we were so grateful to find accommodation that meets the needs of my disabled husband. The cottage offers ample space for his large wheelchair and the essential equipment he requires, which made our stay both comfortable and stress-free. The owners are exceptionally thoughtful and caring. Although they were away on holiday during our visit, they stayed in regular contact to respond to any queries and to ensure everything was going smoothly. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather, which allowed us to enjoy several lovely days out along the coast. The nearby seaside resorts of Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe all offered stunning views. The good weather also meant we could make the most of the garden, which is equipped with comfortable furniture and surrounded by the soothing sights and sounds of the countryside, sheep in the fields and birds in the trees. I wholeheartedly recommend The Old Piggery, especially for anyone with accessibility needs. I’ve struggled to find anything else that compares in terms of both thoughtful design and the welcoming attitude of the owners.
