About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Montaña Paraíso - Costa Ballena Paradise

VRBO shows our location as Uvita. We are actually just south of Ojochal.

.Located Southern zone of Costa Rica or as it's often called Costa Ballena (Whale Coast) our property is truly one of a kind. It’s located in the secondary rain forest in the mountains with an ocean view. The area of Costa Ballena has a thriving tourist economy but is not overrun with tourists. The beaches are not crowded and there are no mega hotels to be found. Two cantilevered houses connected by a floating deck and pool on 15 acres of lush mountain jungle ,this is our slice of paradise.

Casita

La Casita was the first structure built on Montaña Paraíso and with a Balinese-esque style became the inspiration for the entire property. We wanted to bring the immense beauty of the mountains and jungle into the house but without modern floor to ceiling windows . We strategically placed windows in key areas and aligned them perfectly with each other to bring in natural light and views from every angle. Natural elements also make up most of the interior of La Casita. From the bamboo ceilings, to the Columbian stone walls, to the hand laid beach stone in the shower, to hand made Columbian stone sinks, to hand crafted furniture made with local teak wood, the Casita is filled with nature. The main area consists of a king sized bed and a very well built twin sleeper sofa to comfortably sleep 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. A full closet and dresser cabinet allow you to unpack your bags and “move in” for your stay. We highly recommend this! If you truly want the “jungle experience” we have custom made sliding screen systems. Guests can turn off the air conditioning, open the large glass deck doors and slide the screen systems into place. The separation between the inside and the outside disappears seamlessly. It’s truly an experience you will never forget. Two or three guests can dine indoors on the island or four people can dine outside. The kitchen features a 2 burner glass electric cooktop, microwave oven, toaster, sink, refrigerator/freezer, cookware, utensils, silverware etc. The bathroom boasts his and her sinks, stylish Kohler Sail toilet and a huge shower with Grohe fixtures including a rain head for your own indoor rain shower. Moving to the outdoor living space you have high velocity ceiling fans that keep the deck very comfortable all year round. Our favorite addition is the New England style cotton hammock where you can relax reading a book or catch up on nap time. There’s a dining table with four chairs and a sun lounger for your use, all custom built locally with teak wood. Outside decks are also teak and are joined together so you can walk from the Casita to the pool and the Casa barefoot. Not so exciting features include 2 air condition units, tankless hot water heaters, Lutron lighting control, flat screen tv with connected AppleTv, wifi internet service, large capacity washing machine and more. We have 24/7 armed security, video surveillance and maintenance. We hope you will enjoy what we have so thoughtfully designed and built here with La Casita even a fraction of what we do. We think you will !

Casa

La Casa pulls its inspiration from La Casita. We wanted the same feel but with just more space and modern conveniences . An open floor plan displays incredible views from every angle, letting us create a space that uses our natural surroundings as the decor. Bright green hues from the jungle fill the west side, stunning blues and greens permeate the north views from the mountains and blues, greens and natural wood hues fill the eastern views. We have very little artwork in La Casa because nature provides the art for us! Natural elements also make up most of the interior of La Casa. From the bamboo ceilings, to the Columbian stone walls and counter tops, to the hand laid beach stone in the shower, to hand made Columbian stone sink, to hand crafted furniture made with local teak wood, the Casa is filled with nature. The main area consists of a king sized bed and a very well built twin sleeper sofa and 2 queen sleeper sofas to comfortably sleep 7 adults or 4 adults and 3 children. A full closet and built in drawers in the bed allow you to unpack your bags and “move in” for your stay. We highly recommend this! If you truly want the “jungle experience” we have custom made sliding screen systems. Guests can turn off the air conditioning, slide the glass deck doors open and slide the screen systems into place. The separation between the inside and the outside disappears seamlessly. It’s truly an experience you will never forget.Three guests can dine indoors on the island, six guests can eat at the dining room table and up to six guests can dine outside on the deck table. The kitchen features a 4 burner gas cooktop, convection oven, microwave oven, toaster, deep Italian sink with restaurant style faucet, refrigerator/freezer, cookware, utensils, silverware etc. The bathroom has a hand crafted Columbian stone sink, and a huge open to the jungle shower with Grohe fixtures including a rain head for your own indoor rain shower. Moving to the outdoor living space you have high velocity ceiling fans that keep the deck very comfortable all year round. Two Adirondack chairs face the setting western sun and ocean. There’s a large dining table with six chairs and a sun lounger for your use, all custom built locally with teak wood. Outside decks are also teak and are joined together so you can walk from the Casa to the pool and the Casita barefoot. Booking includes the use of the tanning ledge, pool and rancho area. Not so exciting features include 3 air condition units, tankless hot water heaters, Lutron lighting control, flat screen tv with connected AppleTv, wifi internet service, large capacity washing machine and clothes dryer, outside shower and more. . We have 24/7 armed security, video surveillance and maintenance. We hope you will enjoy what we have built to bring the natural surroundings into this home and can experience it with your family just as we do.
* Please note that although the Casa can sleep up to 7 people we recommend just 2-4 guests. The living area and sleeping area are one in the same as seen in the photos so there is no privacy between the bed and the sleeper sofas. Also there is only one bath sink and one toilet.

WHAT MAKES OUR PROPERTY DIFFERENT !
-We are not in a neighborhood or dense development, we are located on a 350 acre property with 15 acres to ourselves
-We are not near a highway, you will not hear braking 18 wheelers all night as with many places available for stays in our area
- This is not just a guest house or portion of someones property, you will have the entire place to yourselves, completely seclusion
-We have propane powered generator system so you will never be without electricity
-We have new air conditioning units in all spaces, sounds like no big deal but most other places have no air conditioning at all or only have it in bedrooms
-We have reliable fast internet, this being said it's not as fast as the US and it does occasionally go down but for the jungle it's outstanding. Please remember not to rely on our internet for business purposes, this is a vacation stay
- 24/7 video surveillance system and armed security on property for peace of mind

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our Guest Host Adolfo at the property entrance. He will show you the in and outs of the both houses as well as the rest of the property. Adolfo can also book excursions for you.

Comments from recent guests:

“Spent five nights at the Beauregard’s hideaway home in the Costa Rican jungle with views of the ocean, jungle (of course) and loads of wildlife, including birds, monkeys and various reptiles. The house is an open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows on three sides, a decent kitchen, laundry facilities, indoor/outdoor showers and a fabulous deck for sundowners and dinner al fresco. Oh, and the infinity edged pool though small has great views and provides a welcome cool down after a day of touring the towns and beaches nearby. Great place!”

“ This place truly is heaven on Earth! From the very first sunset, we were totally captivated and in awe of the respect to nature this place and its amenities provided. We couldn’t spend any more time at the pool than we did and it’s within 10 minutes of so many fascinating beaches, sights & waterfalls. A true representation of the Pura Vida spirit of Costa Rica.

One week simply wasn’t enough time here. We must come back.”

Heavenly Getaway
The property is absolutely stunning. You can see and feel how much life the surrounding jungle is filled with, but with the comfort of a beautiful home. It was incredibly peaceful. You truly need an off road vehicle to make the climb to the house though. But it is well worth it. Owner is super easy to communicate with and easy to talk to. My only issue, which really wasn't even that big of a problem, was that it isn't quite in Uvita. It is an actually very lovely ~20min drive. If you're looking for a secluded getaway this is IT!

Nice, but not Uvita
My husband and I are doing business in Uvita and needed a nearby place to stay. This site said "Uvita" and even had a geographic pin which I checked. Somehow both were misstated. The day before I left I learned that the house is roughly 40 minutes south of Uvita (and even further from Dominical) meaning we did a lot of extra driving throughout the week and were too exhausted to go back to the house, shower and go out again for dinner. If you really don't care where you stay, then this house is lovely with a great view. It's cozy, has all the amenities you will need and the owner was easy to work with.

Stunning/ Modern Property
This property is amazing. It’s about an 8 minute drive up the hill from the road. You WILL need 4x4. Once you arrive you will be amazed by how modern the property is and the view. The check- in process was a breeze and Jose was very accommodating. Paul was easy to get ahold of when we had questions. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook and prepare food and there’s a variety of spices in the cupboard. Pros: - The views - The pool - communication - Decor - Modern touches Cons - You won’t want to leave -Nothing else will compare Perfect for families, couples, and friends who want to get away from the rat race.

Beautiful Stay
The house and property are beautiful! We enjoyed out time there and didn't want to leave. The views and wildlife can't be beat. The house is very secluded and offers peace and quiet away from it all. Coming and going to town and activities was an effort. Had we know how far it was from Uvita, we would have planned our days a bit differently and planned more meals at "home." Live and learn, and we will know for next time we stay there. We will be back for sure!

Heaven on Earth
This property is heaven on earth. Once you make the harrowing drive up the long "drive way", you will never want to leave. Some days you are nestled in the clouds, other days you're overlooking a sun soaked valley. Some days you get a bit of both. This is a birdwatcher's paradise. So many different and colorful varieties to spy on. Our favorite visitors were the abundant toucans eating from the tree directly in front of the lanai. Sadly, we did not see any monkeys or sloths like others have mentioned, but we came across agoutis and possums on the "driveway" regularly. The location is fantastic. We were never far from restaurants, beaches, or activities. So much to do and marvel at in this area without running into a slew of tourists. Our favorite beaches were Ventana (fun waves with no undertow and beach stands with food/drink) and Whale's tail during low tide. We did the Kokopelli mangrove covered boat tour and saw every species of wildlife you come to CR to view. The house(s) was such a special place to retreat to at the end of the day. You are VERY isolated on that hill. There is a neighbor and his dog at the end of the driveway but you only see his house on the way up. The wi-fi was pretty much non-existent when we were there so there was no web searching or tv watching, but the description does mention the wi-fi is not always reliable. As noted, don't expect to do "work" at this location. This was not an issue for us as the kids spent all their free time in the infinity pool and we adults pretty much stayed on the deck when we were home taking in that view. The first day we arrived, we opened the accordion windows and the breeze was wonderful. I don't think the description emphasized enough that a 4x4 is a MUST. We rented a Toyota Rav 4 but did not engage the 4x4 the first trek up the "driveway". The first trip up is a little sketchy and treacherous. We were not expecting that. It's is an INCREDIBLY steep rock and dirt road up the mountain with small hairpin turns for about 1.4 Km. Don't let this steer you from the property though. Once we figured out that we actually had to engage the 4x4, it was so much FUN that I looked forward to driving up and down that hill. It was an adventure in itself. When we arrived, the local caretaker met us at the main road gate and led us up the mountain on his ATV. Mr.Beauregard was very responsive to texts and addressed all inquiries. There are numerous security cameras around the property.

Absolutely Gorgeous!
We had a wonderful vacation at the Beauregard's beautiful home. The property is perfectly situated to enjoy stunning views and the beauty of Costa Rican wildlife. Each day brought something new to admire - words cannot express how stunning a location it is. It is a very private location but never too far from anywhere you plan to go. For all but one of us, it was not our first trip to Costa Rica, but it was our first time to the Costa Ballena area; we loved it, particularly because it is unspoiled by over-tourism while still offering plenty to do and see (and eat - the restaurants in Ojochal are amazing!) We would absolutely stay at this property again and cannot wait to visit again soon.

Paradise in Costa Rica
Montana Paraiso is an absolutely spectacular property. My family has traveled to Costa Rica from the US for 15 years, and this area is our favorite. The proximity to waterfalls, beaches, restaurants, and hiking is perfect, and the area is quiet and full of wildlife. The check in process was easy. Paul, the owner, is helpful in the weeks leading up to the trip, which was great. Adolfo showed us the property and told us that he was available for anything we might need. The property is a five minute drive from the coastal highway. Even though you do need 4WD to access the property, the road is in great condition, smooth and graded, even after a heavy rain storm. Arriving at the property, the two houses are literally floating over the amazing Costa Rica valley. The view is unparallleled... you can see the ocean, mountains, and amazing sunsets. The landscaping is gorgeous, with flowers, palms, and lush trees nearby that offer dappled shade. The house is clean, with air conditioning that works great. We also loved opening up the sliding doors in the morning and evening to enjoy the mountain breezes. The kitchen is well-stocked with spices, dry goods, and plenty of items for cooking and serving meals. All of the appliances work wonderfully well. The couch is new and comfortable, so we were able to relax inside in the evening until it was time for bed. The pool is so much fun! The waterfall was a great feature, and we spent an hour or two every day swimming back and forth, enjoying the time to cool off in the warm weather. The cabana and outdoor furniture became our favorite area to relax and read in the late afternoons. The wildlife in the area is worth mentioning. We heard the haunting calls of howler monkeys every day, white faced capuchins came by in the trees near the house, and we had a visiting coati and agouti stroll through the gardens. All of these visitors are harmless, and it’s amazing to see wildlife up close. I love seeing birds in Costa Rica and was thrilled to see so many amazing birds at this property: Violaceous Trogon, Scarlet Macaws, Great Curassow, Green Honeycreeper, Blue Dacnis, Golden-Hooded Tanager, and many other tanagers, orioles, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, woodcreepers, flycatchers, and manakins. My husband and I loved this trip. We visited the Uvita Waterfall twice, Nauyaca Waterfalls, the Pavon Waterfall, and Ventanas Beach. We went out to eat and had amazing food. What an incredible property!
