There was also anoth guy at reception with a couple of small tattoos (I just can’t remember his name sorry) and he was also amazing and had amazing customer service! The clean staff were so lovely to when getting up and leaving in the morning they were very welcoming and always said hey or good morning

We booked this hotel for its location right in the heart of Auckland's city centre, and it proved to be a great home base for our three-night stay. It is worth noting that it's smack dab in the middle of an uphill climb, so brace yourself if you plan to do a lot of walking. The rooms are spacious, with a small living area that you will be hard pressed to find in most standard hotel rooms these days, and clean as well. The buffet breakfast had a decent menu that ranged from meats, cheeses, cereals and yoghurts to savoury Western breakfast staples.

Great stay. Staff were all very accomodating. Only thing was the parking situation when first arriving, as there’s no off-street parking and didn’t know what to do when checking in. No issues otherwise. Definitely stay again

We loved the view in our room, but was very inconvenient having windows that dont open, even just cracked open would have been much appreciate, as our room and bathroom would get hot fast. We loved all the food Queen Street had to offer but no microwave for dinner leftovers, no communal kitchen to assist. An on-site private parking area would have helped hugely as we had a lot of luggage but finding parking was impossible. The extra $100, although it was understandable, that matter could have been brought to our attention a lot earlier than the day we got to Mercure, brought even more stress when we found out the ATM that the staff member directed us to was out of service. We're not from Auckland so the struggle kicked in, lucky my relation lended us her card to help. Overall, our stay was okay but i do feel that booking at Mercure Hotel brought more stress than relaxation. Thank you. TeIwa & Tama.

Hotel is okay, if you have a vehicle AVOID this hotel. We overestimated the reviews about parking and was horrible. There are better hotels with more convenient, comfortable and easy for parking. Everything was clean, rooms were nice but unfortunately our shower had mold everywhere. I always rent cars when visiting so definitely not staying here because of that reasoning.

I was not sure what to expect when I booked the room last minute coming from Queenstown, NZL, but as soon as I saw the marque from the bus I relaxed. The lobby was nicely done, clean and welcoming. The concierge was friendly and welcoming. He very clearly explained a hold that needed to be placed on my card, and removed upon checking out, and gave me my room card. The room is smallish, but not tiny, very clean, very nice bathroom, comfortable bed, and large LCD tv, desk, couch, small refrigerator, hot pot and a phone. The Britomar train station is a 15 minute down hill walk away, and many busses stop a 1/2 block away from the hotel entrance. Queen Street is a major thoroughfare packed with food options, and shopping. After 10 pm Queen Street is best left to the adventurous and streetwise, not to say that it is dangerous, but slightly sketchy yes, but being from NYC it was fine. I would highly recommend the Mercure to anyone looking for affordable, clean, safe lodging in Auckland! Floor access anytime, and entry into the building at night are restricted without a room card, so as I said safe. But be forewarned it is located at the top of the hill that is Queen Street, so you can walk off dinner! Charles, Red Hook, Brooklyn

Pros - easy and early check in. Close to CBD, bus station just outside the hotel. Good size room, good size shower. Comfortable bed. Cons - tiny reception, some cobwebs on the ceiling, staying on first floor actually means you feel like you are in the basement, squeeky bathroom door wake other person up in the middle of the night, absolutely terrible and small fridge Result - good value for money, hotel can do better if maintained and run with more care about customer experience.

I stayed here for work, and was really impressed. It was just one night, but I wish it was more. Breakfast - I was a little disappointed when I booked when it said “contextual breakfast” but, when I got down for breakfast it was a full cooked buffet PLUS continental. Seriously impressed. The room was clean, well presented and spacious. Location was great for pick up and drop off. If you want a great central location, friendly staff and a great breakfast, this is the place.
