Took a bit of a hiatus recently to go to #japan and it was everything I dreamed and more. Thought this shot was an appropriate #takeahike entry as it was not something I expected to see in the middle of Japanese summer! Leaving in the morning from Toyama in 27+ degree (Celsius) heat to do the Tateyama Kurobe Summer Alpine Route, I thought the rest of the day would be spent in a T-shirt. What a beautiful surprise! Snow and volcanic scenery. And we even drove past some snow monkeys 💙. Falling hard and fast for Japan and its trekking routes, and finally making my Trover wishlist dreams a reality! (Tip: many more trekking routes are open in summer that wouldn't usually be accessible).
Though it was freezing, this view gives me serenity.

What a delight to see the beautiful Kurobe Dam along one of many hikes while doing the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. I was so lucky to go to #japan in summer, one of the only times you can #takeahike here. On one side the air is astonishingly quiet, by crossing over the path the dam is roaring. A true spectacle - Japan had been on my Trover wishlist for a while now and the reality was more than I could have imagined
