Gordel's private paradise

This family house has the advantage of a private beach and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, carob trees and olive trees. The area is very quiet, the only sound you can hear is the waves breaking on the coast.

The building

Gordeli Private Paradise (80 square meters) can host 2-7 people, ideal for two couples or a family or a group of 2-7 friends. A two-storey house with two seperate bedrooms, one on each floor. Every part of the house has a breathtaking, panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. A trail of steps gives direct access to the sea.

The ground floor includes a kitchen, a bathroom with shower and a bedroom overlooking the blue waters. The bedroom has a double-bed and a single-bed with romantic mosquito nets.The kitchen has hot plates, a coffee maker and a refrigerator. There are a barbecue and a handmade wood-fired oven outside the kitchen suitable for traditioned type of cooking. Further, for baking or cooking, you can use natural sea salt from nearby salt pans. At the front of the house there is a large veranda with a wooden dining table offering amazing views over the sea. In the east yard of the house there are two sunbeds.

The upper level has a cozy wooden bedroom and a balcony with panoramic views. The perfect spot to watch the sunrise emerging from the deep blue sea over breakfast or have a romantic dinner under the moonlight. This bedroom has a double bed, a single bed and a sofa that can be easily converted into a third bed.

The house also has an outdoor shower next to the main terrace, as well as a parking space ten meters away from the house. With respect for nature, Gordeli also uses renewable energy sources. A photovoltaic system generates its own electricity which is used to illuminate the entire property.

Activities

The house is within walking distance (1 minute) from a traditional Cretan tavern which serves fresh local seafood, roοster with spagetti, wild goat with traditional rice etc. The place is suitable for diving and exploration of the Peristeres Cave(meaning pigeons nest) by canoe.

Breathtaking sea view
Good for travelers seeking tranquility and experiencing Greek culture (i.e. nearby tavernas, beaches, people) but fell short of the nightlife and shopping experiences for younger folks. This place would be perfect for laid-back tourist who just want to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views, the backyard terrace/beach water it offers right on the property; although the last 8-minute zig-zag narrow road drive to and from the property was quite a challenge especially at night. I have to mention also that the property did not produce warm water - we had to take cold showers (day and night). The lights/lightings were also inadequate at night. Those inconveniences were enough for us to prematurely (4 days early) leave the place and move to fill those gaps in the old town Chania. On the positive note, the property manager did an excellent job welcoming us and making our stay as convenient and fun as possible. He kept in-touch with us during our stay (i.e. recommendations for grocery shopping, restaurants, pharmacies, etc.) We're so glad we accepted his invitation to do snorkeling and paddle boarding in the nearby town of Almyrida - that was an unforgettable experience.

Le paradis au bout du monde
Quel dépaysement une fois qu'on est arrivé dans ce bout du monde ! Tout y est si différent et passionnant... Tout d'abord un accueil excellent et ultra dévoué de la part de Petros et du propriétaire qui ont tout fait pour résoudre notre malheureux problème de voiture (mea culpa). Un grand merci à eux pour tout ce qu'ils ont fait pour nous. La maison est un paradis : descente vers notre rocher privé, d'où nous pouvons nager (eau où nous n'avons pas pied, masque fortement recommandé car elle grouille de magnifiques poissons). La maison fonctionne à l'économie d'énergie et nous opérons un retour à la nature. Les endroits où se mettre à l'ombre ou au frais ne manquent pas, la douche en plein air est un bonheur (il y en a aussi une autre fermée). Il y a quelques balades dignes des aventuriers de l’arche perdue (vers une mini-crique et dans une sorte de canyon). Les étoiles sont superbes le soir, car la nuit est bien noire. Il faut enfin savoir que ce "bout du monde" se paye. L’eau n’est pas potable ; tout est un peu loin mais il est bon de rester sur le site. Les escapades vers Balos et autres sont lointaines, mais pas impossibles. La Canée n’est pas difficile d’accès. Une route vertigineuse de 1,4 km (5 minutes), large comme une voiture, une quinzaine de lacets. La route a une bonne adhérence mais elle peut faire très peur aux conducteurs, notamment pour savoir comment croiser une voiture si cela devait se produire, assurer les éventuels démarrages en côte, etc. Voir la photo sur le site.

Traumplatz reduced to the max!
Dieser Ort besticht durch seine fantastische Lage. Wer das Meer, die Sonne, den Wind liebt und ansonsten keine hohen Ansprüche an luxuriöse Unterbringung hat, der kommt hier voll auf seine Kosten. Es ist ein echter Rückzugsort und als solchen haben wir ihn genossen. Gut einkaufen und dann nur einmal die atemberaubende Straße hierher bewältigen müssen. Die Lage ist spektakulär schön, so dass man eigentlich kein Bedürfnis mehr nach anderen Ausflügen hat. Einziger Nachteil der Elektrifizierung auf 12V ist das ungemütliche Licht am Abend. Wir sind dann lieber ganz ohne Licht ausgekommen.

Einzigartiges Idyll in traumhafter Lage
Wer die Natur und Ruhe liebt ist hier genau richtig. Die Straße zum Haus ist vorsichtig zu befahren. Petro hat uns am 1. Tag sehr gut gelotst und war als Ansprechpartner immer erreichbar und sehr um unser Wohl besorgt. Mit Lebensmitteln sollte man sich vorher ausrüsten, da man von dort eigentlich nicht mehr weg will. Die Taverne war bei uns geschlossen, was aber kein Problem war, da Lebensmittel für‘s „Überleben“ bereitgestellt wurden. Da das Haus sehr abgelegen ist, ist‘s mit der Stromversorgung nicht so einfach. Wir hatten 12 V , doch durch Umrüstung konnten Handy‘s usw. über USB- Kabel sehr gut geladen werden. Ein normaler Fön funktioniert nicht, war aber für uns kein Problem. Kühlschrank und Herd laufen mit Gas. Das Haus hat eine einfache Ausstattung, ist sehr sauber und traumhaft gelegen. Das Sonnendeck ist genial. Günstig sind Badeschuhe, da man kurzen Weg über Steine gehen muss, um ins Wasser zu hüpfen. Wir würden jederzeit sehr gerne wieder kommen und bedanken uns ganz herzlich für den wunderschönen Aufenthalt und die tolle Betreuung.
