Peaceful in the Country

Great view from this lovely house. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Very comfortable inside. Enjoyed the swing and rocking chair in the porch. Will definitely stay there again!

Blessed at Dogwood Cottage

Dogwood Cottage is located in a lovely country setting. We were greeted to bright, inviting, clean and cozy lodging with fresh homemade blueberry muffins awaiting us on the kitchen counter. Our host Lisa provided other delightful treats including fresh brown eggs, warm baked oatmeal, and fresh baked bread. The cottage was filled with thoughtful details to insure a comfortable visit. Our stay was peaceful, refreshing, and enjoyable.

We came to the area for my son's engagment, it was perfect. Hosts went out of their way in all things to make us feel right at home. Highly recomend.

Lovely Atmosphere

Clean, comfortable, modern, decorated wonderfully with welcome, and wisdom sayings, comfortable furniture, and pretty items, everthing in order. Owners were hospital, friendly, interesting.

In town for a family wedding

Traveled from upstate NY to Altavista for a family wedding. Our 2 kids and their spouses stayed with us quite comfortably under one roof. Beautiful house, property and area. Would rent it again in a heartbeat. Thanks for the hospitality!

Dogwood Cottage/Altavista Trip

My husband, 1.5 year old and in-laws had a wonderful stay at this rental. We were welcomed with freshly baked pumpkin muffins and met with breakfast each morning from the host consisting of baked oatmeal, fruit, farm fresh eggs and fresh bread later in our stay. We came down for a cattle conference and then also visited nearby attractions in Appomattox and Lynchburg. We enjoyed a farm tour of the hosts’ property which we loved. The house was wonderfully decorated, accommodating, and very clean! They thought of everything! We hope to make a stop through that area sometime in the future. Wonderful views surrounding the property!

We didn’t want to leave.

The renovation is amazing. Meticulously kept, and fully stocked. We had farm fresh eggs and half and half for the well stocked coffee and tea bar. Apples, bananas, bread and baked oatmeal! They are great hosts. The bathrooms are gorgeous and exceptionally clean. Beds are very comfortable. BUT THE VIEW! Wow! we enjoyed the back porch for the sunrises and the perfectly manicured pasture with the hay-bails were outstanding. 10/10 will visit again.

Absolutely Amazing

This location well deserves a five star plus rating. The home was so clean you could smell the cleanliness. The great room with the high ceiling was breathtaking. The room was decorated beautifully and with comfort in mind. The kitchen had everything you needed. And add the bonus of fresh sweet bread and farm fresh eggs from the hostess!! So many coffee selections for the Keurig and snacks for movie night. The wifi and cable connection was awesome and the tv was set up for whatever you wanted to watch. On to the master bedroom and bath. Both were huge and the bed was so comfortable. The entire house was decorated with high end choices and looked like it was just remodeled. My sister and I stayed for 3 nights and we are picky about our surroundings. Needless to say we had no complaints about the Dogwood Cottage!!

Liberty Grad Weekend - 6 out of 5!

This cabin was perfect for our 4-day Liberty graduation weekend. It overlooks a beautiful clearing with views of the local hills and forests. It's just about 20 minutes from the University but well worth the drive. Inside, the cabin is inviting, cozy, and comfortable, with charming touches everywhere you look. The quality and modern touches in the cabin make it feel as if it was just recently built, but I was surprised to find it was originally built in 1940's. That just added to the charm. The cabin and the location deserve 5 stars just on their own, but when you add the hospitality of the hosts this VRBO deserves at least another star! When we first arrived, they brought over some fresh baked bread to enjoy. They didn't stop there, there were farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator, and each morning a new treat magically arrived at the front door. They even left a bouquet of flowers and a cake to celebrate our new graduate!Another unforgettable thing was the private fishing pond just a short walk down the road. Catching bass each morning while enjoying the serenity and nature of the area was my happy place. One morning my wife stopped by on her walk to say hello. She cast a line and caught her first fish! A core memory for sure.This property and the host's hospitality will definitely have us coming back again and again.

Perfect in every way!

We were pleasantly surprised and loved the few changes of decor from the pictures. The patchwork bee decor in the double-bed bedroom was adorable! The chair pull-out beds, for the littles were pulled out and ready with crisp colorful comforters for a good night sleep! We added a twin air mattress that just fit for my third “grand” -little!! The master bedroom decor is beautiful and the room is so spacious!!! The living space was so cozy and comfortable!!!! We loved the “booth” in the kitchen eat in area. The bathrooms couldn’t have been nicer!!! Speaking of nice…our host/hostess went above and beyond with a basket of teas, honey and homemade baked goods. Then warm baked oatmeal delivered the next morning!!! Not to mention extra little gift-bags for the three littles!! Thank you again, Lisa!!!! Just note: there are no closets in the two small bedrooms. I usually unpack everything as if I’m going to live there… I happened to pack in TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, shopping bags, and it worked out perfect. However there is a luggage rack for suit cases! The views out back are stunning!!! The kiddos loved the front porch swing!It was perfect in every way!! Except…I would have loved to had longer to stay!!! I would love to come back…Lord willing and the creek don’t rise! 🐝arbara
