Travel writer Sher of Sher She Goes recently returned from one of the most glamorous beach destinations in Mexico: Cabo San Lucas. On the tip of Baja California, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, Cabo offers sun, fun and something for everyone.

Cabo, Mexico

Cabo has long been the preferred hideout for celebrities and Hollywood stars to soak up the sun and get away from the paparazzi. Stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Elton John, Sophia Loren, John Wayne and Will Smith are just a few who’ve enjoyed vacationing in Los Cabos over the years.

Formed where the ocean meets the sea, the Baja peninsula offers soft sandy beaches, secluded desert, gourmet dining, luxury all-inclusive hotels and all night entertainment.

In short, it’s perfect.

The Most Instagrammable Things to Do in Cabo, Mexico

Today, we’re spilling all of Cabo’s secrets so you can have your own glamorous getaway! Keep reading for the ultimate list of Instagrammable places in Cabo San Lucas that will leave all your friends and family green with envy.

1. Visit the Arch of Cabo San Lucas

The most photographed place in Cabo?

El Arco, or the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, of course! This gorgeous natural rock formation was created on a sandbar where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.

At this meeting point you’ll find the famous arching stone cliff at Land’s End flanked by two ironically named beaches on either side, Divorce Beach and Lover’s Beach. Depending on the tide, you’ll see a beautiful mix of colors from the rocks, sand, sea and sky. If you’re lucky like we were, frolicking sea lions will swim up to your boat to say hello!

Spend an afternoon snorkeling, swimming or sun tanning. But for the perfect Insta-worthy shot… hire a private charter through Cabo Adventures to set sail around sunset.

Our cruise lasted two hours and included a fun DJ, fantastic open bar, tasty snacks and lots of dancing until the sun went down!

2. Take a Camel Safari into the Baja Desert

So, you’re probably intending to spend your Cabo vacation by the pool or beach, but hear me out! Baja is blessed with a desert right along the Pacific Ocean and there’s no better way to enjoy a Mexican getaway than with a different perspective.

These gentle camels have been rescued from circuses across Mexico and now spend their days kissing guests and leading visitors on a gentle nature walk through the desert.

From Cabo San Lucas, we booked a day trip to head deep into the desert to meet our new desert friends. After a photo shoot to get to know the camels, we rode through cactus and desert flora towards the ocean. If you visit in winter as we did, there’s a good chance you’ll spot whales and dolphins out in the waves!

The activity didn’t end there — next, we feasted on a delicious Mexican lunch of chicken mole, quesadillas and fiery salsas. Everything was fresh, delicious and typically Baja. And of course, there were plenty of local tequilas on tap to sample!

For more information, you can check out the full activity with Cabo Adventures here.

Note: For this activity, cameras aren’t allowed but you can purchase a USB of photos and drone shots through the tour company.

3. Stay at Paradisus Los Cabos

If you’re looking for a gorgeous, Instagrammble luxury hotel, you have to stay at Paradisus! Every nook and cranny of this resort is STUNNING!

Paradisus Los Cabos is a member of Leading Hotels of the World, all inclusive and located on a swimmable beach outside of downtown San Jose del Cabo. From the lush gardens and terraces, to the awesome views of the Sea of Cortez, we were impressed by the sophisticated and elegant design.

There are 7 restaurants on site, offering an international sampling of Mexican, Japanese, Italian and international cuisine. We even tried a contemporary Basque gastronomy tasting by ten Michelin-starred chef Martín Berasategui.

Prefer to sleep in? There’s complimentary room service, a fully-stocked mini bar and snack baskets daily. Want to spend all day at the pool? There are restaurants and bar options right by the pools and beaches, so you can relax anywhere!

P.S. If you stay here, absolutely splurge on the Royal Service rooms. Our ocean view suite came with a personal butler to attend to us throughout our stay! Heaven! This would be the perfect setting for a romantic escape for two as well.

4. Try Tequila Tasting and Dinner at Garza Blanca

Garza Blanca is another beautiful property in Cabo that just opened in December 2018. Modern and sleek, the resort has one of the best gourmet restaurants in Los Cabos, where both the fare and décor are works of art.

We kicked off our evening with a mezcal tasting at sunset with the in-house tequila expert. Each tequila was accompanied with a fresh smoothie to highlight the underlying notes and flavors.

Then, we crafted our own caipirinha cocktails, after learning the recipe from the on-site master mixologist. Finally, we sampled a delicious 5-course dinner with wine pairings. Each course was expertly plated and left us wanting more! This was only one of the many amazing, picture-perfect meals we enjoyed in Cabo.

If you appreciate personalized pampering and a sophisticated dining experience, you have to try Blanca Blue at Garza Blanca resort.

5. Have a Wine Massage with Dinner on the Beach

Fiesta Americana hotel offers one of the most beautiful and relaxing experiences to be had in Cabo! Sign up for their wine tasting and dinner experience, which takes place in the evenings right on the beach.

It’s not just any wine tasting.

When we arrived, we found a picturesque semi-circle of chairs on the sand. We lay down facing the ocean, while the staff took our shoes and slipped our feet into plush slippers. Once a blazing bonfire was lit, a team of masseuses came forward in unison to begin the wine stomping experience!

Fiesta Americana’s on-site spa, SOMMA WineSPA, is the only spa in Cabo to use the benefit of wine in its treatments. We assisted them by crushing grapes in a wine barrel with our feet. Feeling the squish and pop of grapes in between your toes was so fun!

Once our feet were completely detoxed (and the grapes utterly flattened), we lay down on the lounge chairs as the therapists got to work. One masseuse gave an incredible foot and leg massage while a second massaged our heads – heavenly!

The experience didn’t stop there.

We then had a 3-course wine pairing of some delicious local Mexican wines, followed by an epic 3-course dinner on the beach. The hotel thoughtfully provided colorful ponchos to keep us warm and decorated the dinner table with beautiful red lanterns, flower bouquets and colorful Alebrijes, small Oaxacan-Mexican folk art animal sculptures, which we took home as souvenirs.

On the menu?

First, a Michoacan salad with strawberry, amaranth and hibiscus paired with Monte Xanic Sauvignon Blanc, from Valle de Guadelupe, Mexico. Next, a main course of fresh Baja lobster with crunchy tortilla chips and black bean puree, paired with Casa Madero Chardonnay from Valle de Parras, Mexico.

The best was for last. We finished our indulgent and highly Instagrammable night with a caramel soufflé encased in a beautiful purple sugar floss dome and a glass of port from Portugal’s Valle del Douro.

The entire night was unforgettable and a highlight of our stay in Cabo. To book the spa and dinner treatment, call ahead to Fiesta Americana.

Hope you enjoyed our suggestions for Cabo’s most photogenic places and exciting things to do! Whether you have a weekend or an entire week, Cabo San Lucas is the perfect place to work on your tan, down some mojitos and have a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
