"We enjoyed the spacious room, the eclectic decorating and comfort of the lobby and the breakfast at the Hotel Des Lux. We stayed on a quiet holiday night so would be interested to observe the hotel on a night with greater occupancy. On Locust St the right curb lane offers signage for temporary check-in parking, but to me and my car and I felt exposed to regular traffic on Locust. Could the city of Des Moines construct a bump out to more isolate that curb lane? "

"Room was clean but smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling so check your rooms for maintenance. Staff was very friendly and helpful at desk. Housekeeping did knock and try to enter our room before I could answer the door at 10am, an hour before checkout, so educate them to let us answer. It takes 15 seconds, not 3. A do not disturb sign would have helped. Otherwise it's a nice place."

"Great spot fright off the interstate. Clean, comfy bed and reasonably priced. Breakfast was surprisingly varied in options. "

"Only thing I'd say needed to be done is I've noticed not every room has an ice bucket & don't understand the 3 pillow thing either. "
