The Des Lux is a beautiful hotel. Beds are comfy and spacious. The hotel bar is much better than most, craft cocktails. Lots of great dining/cocktail options within walking distance.

Beautiful property in a great location.

BEAUTIFUL property. Would definitely stay here again. Enjoyed a visit to the bar -service was excellent. Property is walkable to entertainment and dining options. The ONLY complaint is that the large blue LED light on the beer/wine fridge is SO BRIGHT that it's distracting at bedtime. I covered the darn thing with two towels and the light still bled through.

AC was broken

The AC in the room didnt work. Called down to the front desk, and was greated with...we have a fan that we can bring up. When they brought the fan, he could feel how hot it was and then proceeded to tell me to just open the window. Instead if having maintenance come in and fix it. The thermostate was set to 66 and the temp stay between 75 and 76.

Gorgeous hotel!

I was quite impressed with everything from the quick check-in, to the comfortable bed, to the delicious smelling lotions and potions the hotel provided. Loved the bar at night and the complimentary breakfast was much better than expected. Zero complaints, the staff were friendly and everything was perfect. The hotel has a glamorous feel at a budget friendly price.

Great hotel! Very comfortable bed. Cold air conditioning. Friendly employees. We were there for an entire week and it was great. I was not feeling safe walking around after dark in that area. Nice restaurants within walking distance. Would stay there if I ever have to go to Des Moines again.
