What you can expect

As you sail aboard Winona keep your eyes on the horizon to spot majestic humpback whales, Hawaii's state marine mammal. Whether you're in the cabin or the deck, enjoy views of the endangered humpbacks that travel to Hawaii from the Pacific waters off Alaska each winter to breed.

The Kohala Coast of the Big Island, a marine mammal sanctuary, provides a warm and safe environment for the whales to give birth and tend to their young. While the crew shares knowledge about whale behavior, keep your eyes on the horizon for a chance to see breaches and tail slaps. At the onboard bar, grab a drink and light snacks before heading back to the railing for unobstructed views.

With large viewing windows, you can still enjoy the scenery while you grab a seat in the cabin, away from the sun. Whale watching offers a unique opportunity to witness a variety of dramatic behaviors, from tail slapping and head lunges to full breaches out of the water. Don’t miss the opportunity to encounter these spectacular 40-ton visitors in their natural habitat.
