Activity itinerary

Hwaseong Fortress
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
At first, we visit the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. It is an impressive structure from the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and it is also the official fortress of Suwon city. The fortress was designated as Historical Monument Nº3 in January 1963, and on December 1997, it was also designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The Suwon Hwaseong Palace is a temporary palace where the king and royal family retreated during a war. This is one of the largest palaces, used by the Joseon kings since the time of King Jeongjo (r. 1776-1800). The Jangyongyeong guard ceremony is held at the front gate every Sunday from April to October.
