Description

A trip to Arusha is not complete without a visit to Tarangire National Park, one of the largest in the region. Spend a day exploring this destination, home to a wide variety of wildlife—especially during the dry season, when the park is a favorite spot for thousands of migrating animals.

Leave Arusha behind for an unforgettable day of sightseeing with an abundance of animal wildlife and African scenery. Drive along the Tarangire River, where migrating animals seek water in the dry months (June–December), as your guide points out the different species that visit this famous site.

Located about 74.5 miles (120 km) from Arusha and southeast of Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park is known for its dense wildlife population and houses more than 550 species. These include buffalos, elephants, tree-climbing lions, warthogs, wildebeests, elands, fringe-eared oryx, lesser and greater kudu, gerenuk, impalas, tree-climbing pythons, and much more.

Explore the park and admire its flora, including the baobab trees, and take unique photos of the animals. Keep an eye out for the rare birds such as the yellow-collared lovebirds and the myriad of further bird life before you pause for lunch.
